  • We are super excited to welcome Kathy Timberlake to the MarCom Group team as our new VP of Contracts and Compliance. After working for more than 16 years at federal agencies like NASA and the U.S. Coast Guard, Kathy brings a valuable insider perspective and "can't wait to roll up my sleeves" enthusiasm. When she's not bringing order to government contracting, Kathy loves rooting for the Longhorns, traveling, and spending time in the "beautiful chaos" that comes with five kids. Welcome to MarCom Group, Kathy!

  • It might surprise you to learn that numbers aren’t Virgil DiCenzo’s, Vice President of Project Finance, strongest suit. People are. “I’m probably naturally not great with numbers like a lot of people who can do them in their head,” Virgil says. “But I love analyzing things and figuring out the best path forward.” Virgil’s strength in numbers comes from the relationships he builds. “The business success is nice, but I’m in it for the people. That’s what makes the work meaningful to me. I’ve been very blessed and fortunate in my career to work with people I really relate to and enjoy working with. Turns out, Virgil is just as adept at building bridges as he is spreadsheets. He doesn’t just balance our ledgers but our entire team.

  • Sure, as a marketing and advertising agency, a lot of what we do is easy to see, airing on local channels or showing up in your social. But what about the “behind the scenes?” What about the people with specialized skillsets who might not make headlines but who make all the difference in the world? Watch this space in the months to come for a deep dive into all MarCom Group does — behind the scenes and behind the campaigns.

  • Meet LaVonne Serrano, our newest Project Coordinator. LaVonne’s the kind of person you want on your team when things get complicated. She brings a background shaped by years of high-level support, cross-agency coordination, and a talent for navigating the inner workings of both government and creative environments. Not to mention, a calm, collaborative energy that never wavers. “I’m very intentional about building strong working relationships. I like to surround myself with good people, good experiences, and good things. I look for growth opportunities within every project, regardless of size.” Clients can count on her for grace under pressure, quiet leadership, and a commitment to always doing her best. “Some people get overwhelmed by difficult personalities or tough situations. I’m energized by them. I like working toward a common goal, even when it’s challenging.” LaVonne has worked everywhere from Capitol Hill to the National Gallery of Art. She’s solved complex problems, bobbed and weaved to overcome challenges, and steadfastly kept things on track when they could’ve easily gone sideways. Sounds like a sure path to success. Join us in welcoming her to the team.

  • Say hello to Reid Smith, our new Communication Specialist. Reid brings a writer’s wisdom and creativity and a storyteller’s heart, shaped by years of agency work, executive communications, and a drive to provide clarity to the complex. “I've always loved writing, but what drives me is finding the best way to explain something clearly and effectively.” His writing spans the full spectrum: from brand storytelling and persuasive marketing to precise technical writing and strategic communications for Chief Information Officers of numerous federal agencies. Reid is one of those guys who aggressively leans into change, asking all the right questions, and getting back even better answers. Yet, ask Reid what defines him, and he’ll tell you: “I'm a person who likes to be challenged. I'm always up for something new. I like to learn things. I like to wear different hats. If there's something I don't know, it bugs me. I have to figure it out.” Reid lives just outside Cleveland and brings a calm, collaborative energy to everything he does. When he’s not copywriting, Reid makes time for writing fiction, playing guitar, and getting outside for football, running, rock climbing, and—always the optimist— rooting for the Browns. We couldn’t be happier. Join us in welcoming him to the team.

  • Please join us in congratulating Lori Karin on her promotion to Vice President, Strategy, Research, and Analytics. With more than 30 years of leadership experience across federal agencies large and small, including the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Office of Personnel Management (OPM), and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Lori has reshaped agencies, managed large-scale transformations, and helped organizations navigate through times of change and crisis. From standing up entirely new HR infrastructures to leading large-scale organizational overhauls, she’s guided teams through tremendous growth and unforeseen challenges like the onset of the COVID pandemic that reshaped the federal landscape. "I’m proud of the policies and procedures I authored that are still in place today,” Lori shared. But it’s Lori’s authenticity, curiosity, and humility that truly capture her leadership style. “I love to learn. I listen well to people. And I’m very excited for this new chapter of my career and life." As far as new chapters go, we’re certain this one is going to be one of those unforgettable page-turners you just can’t put down. Welcome, Lori. We’re glad you’re here. Thank you for your service!
