Cybersecurity = Economic Security In 2024, two million MA residents had their data stolen in cyberattacks. The hardest hit were municipalities, small businesses & nonprofits because they typically lack trained staff to defend against increasingly sophisticated threats. At the same time, MA has 20,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs & many populations remain underrepresented in this fast-growing field. That lack of diversity limits resilience & leaves communities more vulnerable. That is why the state launched the SOC/Cyber Range Initiative. This statewide effort equips students, small businesses, municipalities & nonprofits with state-of-the-art training & tools. The program focuses on four critical goals: - Strengthening security  - Reducing underemployment  - Expanding workforce training & development  - Advancing economic security Cybersecurity = economic security. The MA eHealth Institute (MeHI) recently welcomed a delegation from the French Private Hospital Federation (FHP SMR) to MassTech’s Boston office to share how MA is driving digital health innovation through research, entrepreneurship & cross-sector partnerships. Thank you to our speakers for sharing their expertise: Jenny Baldassarre (New England Deaconess Abundant Life Communities) highlighted their commitment to agetech innovation and how they engage startups through the Sandbox program. Thomas Fu, MD, MBA (Enabled Health) demonstrated an AI-powered Virtual Trainer Stand for hospital rehabilitation. Dabin Choe,Santiago Canete Riaza, and David Pont (Harvard University Move Lab) showcased projects advancing assistive technology, connected rehabilitation & healthy aging. The discussion focused on interoperability, startup ecosystems & translating research from lab to market.
