Changing lives, one meal at a time.

About us

CHANGING LIVES, ONE MEAL AT A TIME. https://www.mowp.org/ HOW WE'VE GROWN Meals on Wheels People produces 5,000 nutritious meals every weekday in a 14,000-square-foot commercial kitchen in the heart of Multnomah Village. Meals are delivered to dozens of dining centers throughout Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties where they are served at noon to older adults in the dining rooms or sent out as Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors. VOLUNTEERS MAKE IT HAPPEN Volunteers are the heart and soul of Meals on Wheels People and we depend on more than 400 people every day to help prepare and deliver meals. The volunteer with a friendly smile and nutritious meal is often the only person some of our homebound seniors will see on an average day. MAKING MEALS AVAILABLE Meals on Wheels People meals are available to anyone over the age of 60. Each meal costs $10.50 and seniors are encouraged to donate what they can afford. Weekend and Holiday meals are provided to those who have no other source of food or support.

Updates

  • Aging shouldn’t mean disappearing. But when access to food and community slips away, many older adults begin to feel invisible. At Meals on Wheels People, we know nourishment goes beyond the plate — it’s about the care and connection that comes with it. That’s why 87% of home-delivered meal recipients say that knowing someone will check on them regularly helps them feel safer (according to a study conducted by Meals on Wheels America). That’s why we offer more than just meals. Through consistent deliveries, Friendly Chats calls, and welcoming dining centers, we bring connection, comfort, and care — meeting people where they are and reminding them they’re not alone. You can be part of that connection. Donate today to help us keep our community connected: mowp.org

  • We met our match! 🥳 Thanks to Tidewater Transportation and Terminals, your gifts were doubled — making twice the impact for neighbors in need. But we’re not done yet. With just hours left, we need your help to hit our $10,000 goal before midnight tonight. Your support helps neighbors like Larry, who was hospitalized for malnutrition before Meals on Wheels People stepped in. Now, with regular meals and friendly volunteer visits, he’s no longer facing it all alone. Let’s finish strong — give now and help us keep delivering more than just a meal: https://lnkd.in/eGCefMyw

  • Early giving for #GiveBIG is now open! We’re aiming to raise $10,000 to serve up more meals, more connection, and more independence for the older neighbors who count on us — and thanks to a generous $2,500 matching gift from Tidewater Transportation and Terminals, your donation can go even further! That means double the impact: more meals, more moments of care, and more support for older adults in our community. Give early. Make it count. Let’s do this together! https://lnkd.in/eGCefMyw

If you're ready to make a difference, we need you! Let’s build a more inclusive, connected community together. Sign up to volunteer today at mowp.org and help us bring care and support to everyone, no matter their background.

  • Social isolation is a silent struggle for many older adults, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Meals on Wheels People is committed to ensuring that connection and care are always within reach. Whether through a nutritious meal or a Friendly Chat, we help combat loneliness and give older adults the companionship they need. For some, these services have truly been a lifeline. • Our dining sites need kitchen volunteers to help prep and cook scratch-made meals for our older neighbors. With more and more community members relying on us, we need extra hands to keep the meals coming. It’s more than just time in the kitchen — it’s sharing stories, building friendships, and making sure no one eats alone. Ready to roll up your sleeves and make a difference? • No one should have to choose between food and other basic needs. Yet, for many older adults, this is a daily reality. 1 in 2 older adults struggle to afford the essentials necessary to live independently and thrive. Meals on Wheels People removes the burden of food insecurity, ensuring our older neighbors receive the nourishment they deserve. Thanks to supporters like you, we’re making a real difference. Your generosity has a lasting impact on the lives of older adults in our community. Donate today at mowp.org to help us continue providing the care and resources that matter most.

  • The women of Meals on Wheels People make an incredible impact every day. From the kitchen to delivery routes to the heart of our organization, women are an essential part of our workforce and play a key role in our volunteer team. Their dedication ensures that older adults in our community stay nourished and connected. And just as vital as the women who help us operate are the women we serve. Nearly 60% of our participants are women — women who have spent lifetimes caring for others and deserve to be cared for in return. Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the women of MOWP: those who give, those who serve, and those we support. Because when women uplift each other, our whole community thrives.
