I sat down and ranked my top TV shows from 2025. Most of them were Apple TV+ productions. If you’re curious: Severance, Platonic, The Studio. $12.99 a month well spent. It has now become normalized for Apple to release hits and win Golden Globes. But in the not so distant past, it wasn’t obvious why a hardware company would become a TV studio in the first place. Apple does everything with intention. Here’s why their strategy makes sense. Apple realized early that hardware unit sales wouldn’t keep climbing forever. In order to continue growing earnings, they had to monetize their base. So, a TV studio was born…and Apple Card, Apple Fitness+, iCloud, and more. Today, services are estimated to drive around half of Apple’s profit. This isn’t just an Apple story. In 2026, it’s become clear that every hardware company needs a services strategy. RAM prices have jumped as high as 3x as AI-driven demand strains global supply. Upgrade cycles are perpetually lengthening. Ongoing tariff uncertainty looms ominously over the supply chain. Change and volatility have become the only constant. Hardware needs to adapt. Of course, not every hardware company can create hit TV shows. But there are other services which deliver high-margin recurring revenue and require far less capital investment. One in particular fits perfectly into the hardware value chain and is essential to every phone (or connected device) owner. Mobile connectivity. Why has it been overlooked? Until recently, launching a mobile service required significant operational complexity, telecom expertise, and infrastructure. For most companies, it simply wasn’t practical. That’s changed. Gigs lets companies embed mobile connectivity directly into their consumer offer with near zero capital and operating costs, turning mobile from a low-margin commodity into a high-margin product feature. That’s why hardware retailers like NETGEAR are embedding mobile directly into their products. As device retailers expand beyond once-every-few-years product sales toward subscription revenue, the integration of hardware and mobile connectivity is inevitable. To see what that means for hardware retailers, read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gEhJANzi

Excited to share that I’ve joined Gigs as Global Head of Connectivity. During my time at Adyen we built and scaled the systems, partnerships, products and license coverage to provide unique and reliable payment services for some of the world’s largest platforms. I’ve learned what it takes to modernise foundational infrastructure: vision, trust, deep technical understanding, and strong global and local partnerships. Telecom is at a similar moment now. Connectivity underpins almost everything we do, yet much of the industry still operates on systems and mechanisms designed for a pre-internet world. Distribution is fragmented, operations are complex, and innovation moves slower than the platforms these networks power. At Gigs, the focus is clear: do the hard work required to make telecom programmable, embeddable, and built for digital-first products, while keeping carriers at the center of the ecosystem. We create new distribution channels for our connectivity partners, and see tremendous commercial momentum with our products. There’s a lot to do, and that’s what makes this exciting. We're growing the global Connectivity team at Gigs, and we’re hiring for roles across network partnerships, product, operations, and engineering. If you’re interested in working on infrastructure and integrations that will be the future default for global telecom distribution, we want to hear from you. See the comments for all the roles we’ve got open now.

OnePay is rapidly climbing the US app charts. Last fall, they rolled out an embedded mobile service powered by Gigs to millions of customers. We’re proud of this partnership and excited to work together to bring embedded connectivity to millions more in 2026 🙌 Harsh Gupta, GM, and Brandon Tallent, Engineering Lead went into more detail on the partnership powering OnePay Wireless in a recent blog article: “Gigs is the operating system for mobile services, and through its partnership with AT&T, it enables OnePay to embed connectivity directly into the apps customers already use every day. Together, we’ve unlocked a future where connectivity, banking, and payments coexist in one seamless experience. For many customers, that will feel like a simpler, more intuitive way to manage their lives.” 📖 Read their write-up here: https://lnkd.in/exu6F3WA

We’ve just returned from our ninth Gigs Republic, the bi-annual event where we come together as one team to reflect, challenge ourselves, and accelerate what's next. This time, we headed to sunny Crete, where we welcomed lots of new faces and hacked long into the night to tackle the most ambitious challenges in embedded telecom. Highlights from the week: 🔥 Hackathon: Once again, this proved that small teams of driven people can move an entire industry forward in just one day. From improving the number porting experience with AI to making phone plans accessible from LLM chats, the projects that emerged are already shaping upcoming launches. 💬 Fireside Chat: We sat down with Tony Xu, DoorDash’s co-founder and CEO (and one of our earliest backers) to explore what it takes to build a 100 billion-dollar company. His message was simple and powerful: focus relentlessly on customer value and keep building, even when it’s hard. 🚀 Team Sessions: Our founders, product and GTM teams reflected on recent launches, discussed how to raise the bar even higher, and set the tone for the next six months. These sessions honed our vision and strategy to make our delivery faster and more precise than ever before. 👩🍳 Gigs Table: We split into cooking groups and turned the pro kitchen into a teamwork showcase. Two three-course dinners later, we had 130 happy Gigsters, a few friendly rivalries, and some genuinely impressive dishes. The food was delicious, and the road to get there made it even better. This ninth Gigs Republic felt extra special. We are integrating many new team members, scaling our largest launches, and preparing for major announcements ahead. Telecom is transforming, and Gigs is driving that change. If you love solving hard problems and want to help build a generational tech company, check out our careers page (gigs.com/careers) 😍
