A passion for making lives better.

About us

At Mercyhealth, our doctors, nurses and staff are committed to making lives better for our patients and their families. They bring knowledge and innovation to ensure that our patients receive world-class health care, close to home. As an integrated health system, we provide exceptional, coordinated health care for almost every need. Integration improves access to services, technology and treatments, and leads to better outcomes. To best serve our patients, our integration centers around four core service areas: hospital-based services, clinic-based services, post-acute and retail services (home health, hospice, pharmacies, etc.), and a wholly owned and operated insurance company. At the heart of our organization are more than 7,000 doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers who live the Mercyhealth mission of providing exceptional health care services with a passion for making lives better. We’re committed to working together to make lives better for our patients and their families. Our passion drives and inspires us to do our very best, and we continuously look for ways to make each life better with the utmost care and professionalism. This can be as complex as a cutting-edge procedure or as simple as a smile. Nothing is ever too small or taken for granted. Everything matters.

  • We’re sending a big congratulations to Patrick, one of our talented cooks from the Food Services team, on receiving a Shield of Excellence Award! 👏 🎉 One of our partners took a moment to recognize Patrick for the incredible work he does each day. He’s the kind of team member we all strive to be—kind, cheerful, hardworking, and an all-around outstanding Mercyhealth partner. Patrick takes the time to learn his fellow partners' names and even remembers their usual café orders. Whether he’s busy at the grill or not, he’s always ready to lend a hand—helping someone carry a tray, grabbing decaf coffee, or jumping on the register when needed. Thank you, Patrick, for consistently bringing a smile to the faces of our patients, visitors, and partners. We’re truly grateful to have you on our team! 💙

Whether it’s helping a child say their first words, supporting stroke survivors in regaining speech, or aiding someone with a stutter to communicate confidently, speech therapists make a lasting impact every day. • We were proud to welcome over 40 students from RPS 205 for a recent job shadowing experience, including two motivated 11th graders from Guilford High School who spent time with our dedicated Medical Surgical nursing team. 🔵 Ben shared: “I’m really interested in helping people. I like that you can use medicine to do that.” 🔵Talal added: “I’ve always wanted to be a nurse. I love helping people and the hands-on part of nursing.” It’s always inspiring to see the next generation of health care professionals exploring their passion. Thank you to all the students who joined us! We’re excited to see where your journey leads.

  • We received heartfelt feedback from a patient who wanted to recognize Stephanie from Mercyhealth Pharmacy–Crystal Lake for going above and beyond. Congratulations on your Shield Award of Excellence, Stephanie! A patient had been struggling to fill a critical prescription, as CVS in Crystal Lake was unable to assist, leaving them at risk of running out of a life-essential medication. After calling numerous local pharmacies without success, they reached out to our pharmacy in Crystal Lake late in the day. Stephanie, with her incredible professionalism and sense of urgency, assured the patient she would have the medication ready the next day and promised to call once it arrived. Hearing this news felt like a dream come true after several days of panic. The patient expressed deep gratitude for Stephanie’s care and compassion, noting that while it may have seemed like a small task, it meant the world to them. Thank you, Stephanie, for being an outstanding example of kindness, professionalism, and dedication to patient care. 💙

  • Our Perinatal Center, which provides comprehensive care to treat the smallest and sickest babies before and after birth, recently hosted a conference at the NIU Rockford Education Center for health care providers across northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin. The day featured thoughtful discussions on maternal sepsis, trauma-informed care, and recognizing and responding to human trafficking—critical topics in improving outcomes for moms and babies. Events like this support our mission to reduce maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity through education, collaboration, and shared expertise. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success!
