Story of Hope: Joey & Audrey Sughroue – A Journey of Living Donation Audrey and Joey’s relationship blossomed even as Joey battled Alport syndrome, a genetic kidney disease. When his condition worsened, Audrey hoped to donate her kidney but wasn’t a direct match. Through a paired exchange, Audrey gave to another recipient while Joey received a kidney from someone else. Their surgeries happened on the same day, May 2, 2023. Throughout this journey, the couple stayed committed to living fully, getting engaged, married, buying a home and this year, welcoming their daughter, Mila. Now, they look forward to a future of possibilities, health and new adventures together. #GiveHopeShareLife

Midwest Transplant Network recently hosted a Critical Care Donation Symposium: Make it Matter! in Columbia, Missouri. Held at Memorial Stadium’s Walsworth Family Columns Club, the event brought together more than 80 critical care professionals... nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers and more from across mid-Missouri. This daylong educational symposium focused on organ, eye and tissue donation best practices. Attendees explored real-world strategies around donor referrals, collaboration between palliative care and OPOs, tools for preserving donation opportunities and the lasting impact of tissue donation. We were honored to welcome keynote speaker Tara Storch, co-founder of Taylor's Gift Foundation, who shared her family’s powerful story and reminded us all of the importance of finding purpose through grief. Thank you to our healthcare partners for your continued commitment to saving and enhancing lives. Together, we continue to #GiveHopeShareLife 💜💚
