We are excited to welcome Kayla Everding, DNP, FNP, a certified nurse practitioner, to BJC Medical Group Neurology Associates at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. For Kayla, the decision to pursue nursing was made long ago. "Since I was a little kid, I knew I always wanted to be a nurse," said Kayla. "I knew I loved helping and taking care of others." This passion led her to a student externship on MoBap’s neurology floor, where she found her calling. She returned to the same floor after graduation, spending six years as a staff RN before transitioning to her new role as a nurse practitioner. Today, Kayla still loves helping people feel their best. She knows that a trip to the hospital can be one of the scariest moments in a person's life and finds pride in helping patients through that difficult time. She is also motivated by the ever-changing healthcare field, embracing new tools and resources to help more people than ever before. Kayla treats adult patients 18 years and older for a wide range of general neurology conditions, including migraines, headache syndromes, tremors, stroke, seizure disorders, and neuropathy. She also administers Botox® for migraines. A St. Louis native and a new mom, Kayla is currently embracing her most exciting role yet. When she's not caring for her patients, she cherishes time with her family, friends, and her dog, Oakley. She also loves fall—because it is football season—and is a proud Kansas City Chiefs fan. Meet Molly, BSN, RN, IBCLC, a dedicated lactation consultant at MoBap with 24 years of experience in maternal and child health. Molly is passionate about educating and empowering families on their breastfeeding journey and loves seeing a mother's joy as she connects with her baby. We sat down with Molly for a Q&A to learn more about her experience in lactation support and to get her expert advice for new parents. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? My childhood experience with an immune disorder and my mom's career as a nurse inspired me to pursue nursing. I was drawn to lactation support while working in Labor and Delivery, and my favorite part was always that peaceful moment of bliss when mom and baby are bonding through breastfeeding. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? It's a privilege to meet these brand-new families and help them through breastfeeding challenges. When a baby who has been struggling to latch finally figures it out and begins nursing well, a magical moment occurs. I love watching a new mom gain a sense of pride in her baby’s ability, instincts, and skills. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀? Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn't mean it's easy. Many parents worry it will hurt or take too much time, but breastfeeding should not be painful and can be less time-consuming than bottle-feeding. My best advice is to learn as much as you can while pregnant, and, if possible, involve your partner, and know who to contact for support after leaving the hospital. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴? I wish parents knew that babies do not feed on a schedule; you should watch for feeding cues and nurse on demand. Skin-to-skin contact is so important because it gives babies every clue that it's time to nurse, helps them regulate their body temperature, and stabilizes their blood sugar. Also, pacifiers aren't recommended for most full-term babies in the first month while milk supply is being established. While it can be a lot of work initially, breastfeeding has immense health benefits for both the baby and the lactating parent. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗕𝗮𝗽? Our commitment to providing lactation support to every nursing mom. Our breastfeeding families get to meet with a lactation consultant at least once, and often two to three times during their stay. Thank you, Molly and all our lactation consultants. Your dedication empowers new parents and gives babies a great start, every day. 🙌

We are excited to welcome Alisa Kindig, WHNP-BC, a board-certified women's health nurse practitioner, to our team at OB/GYN Associates at Sunset Hills. Driven by a desire for a career with a deeper purpose, Alisa went back to school to become a nurse after eight years in corporate America. She was inspired to specialize in women's health after working in the Emergency Department, where she saw a gap in care, as many women were seeking urgent treatment for health concerns that could have been managed in a routine office setting. Today, her philosophy is focused on educating women and helping them feel better and more confident in their care. Alisa is proudest when a patient reports they feel better than they have in years because, together, they found a solution that works. Alisa provides a wide range of OB-GYN services for patients 13 years and older. She specializes in annual well-woman exams, contraception counseling, family planning, and treating conditions like abnormal bleeding, PCOS, and sexually transmitted infections. Originally from Iowa, Alisa is a foodie who loves trying out new restaurants. She also enjoys watching St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis City SC games and is an active member of her CrossFit community. Not every nurse stays in the OR for over 30 years. But Jean did. Why? Because in the operating room, no two moments are ever the same. Every procedure, even the familiar ones, is unique. There are high-adrenaline days and moments that require all hands on deck. But that’s when the team shines the brightest. For Jean, it was about more than the work. It was about the people beside her, the purpose behind every shift, and the energy that comes from showing up for something bigger than yourself. If you're looking for a place to grow, to be challenged, and to find your people—this might be it. 🔗 Explore Operating Room RN careers: https://lnkd.in/gDVrybWF
