About us
The MPPOA is the largest association representing the more than 10,400 rank and file municipal police officers, correction officers, dispatchers, and firefighters employed in Minnesota. Today, the MPPOA continues to work on passing laws that support public safety and oppose laws that harm the profession. The MPPOA is the legislative voice to improve the working conditions and retirement benefits for public safety professionals and their families. In addition, through our efforts, Minnesota is one of the leaders in making benefits available to officers’ families that are killed in the line of duty. The MPPOA is law enforcement's voice and representation at the State and Federal legislatures. The MPPOA works for economic, social and professional advancement through legislative advocacy, endorsements and lobbying at all levels of government. The MPPOA promotes and endorses political candidates who have demonstrated or are committed to platforms and issues that benefit the public safety profession and our members. The MPPOA Executive Director and paid lobbyists advocate for our members at the Minnesota State Capitol. In addition, law enforcements' interests are constantly monitored and represented at the federal level through advocates in Washington, D.C. on behalf of our members. The association maintains a legislative fund for making financial contributions to the campaigns of candidates and causes that support the interests of our members. As more states legalize cannabis, police face growing challenges in addressing impaired driving and enforcing inconsistent laws. Traffic fatalities linked to drug impairment are rising, and many states lack the tools to detect THC impairment properly. The new #PoliceChiefMag article “Cannabis Contradictions and Challenges” explores how these contradictions are shaping public safety and what steps police can take to advocate for solutions. https://lnkd.in/eaC5WJcG #CannabisLaws #PublicSafety #Policing

We will not back down!
Shareholder - Eckberg Lammers | General Counsel @ Minnesota Police & Peace Officers Association | Keynote Speaker | Prosecutor
We believe in holding the media accountable for their actions, especially when misleading headlines contribute to division. Last week, we encountered an example of this. Upon discovering a misleading headline, our team took swift action and reached out to the ABC affiliate. In just minutes, the headline was rectified from: “Charged declined against man beaten by deputy” to “Charges declined against man involved in use-of-force incident.” Our MPPOA team commitment to advocating for fair treatment of our rank and file officers remains unwavering. We strive for the equal application of the law in all circumstances. MINNESOTA POLICE AND PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (MPPOA)
