I presented my paper, “Enhancing Security and Strengthening Defenses in Automated Short-Answer Grading Systems,” at the 2025 American Educational Research Association, National Council on Measurement in Education Conference. This work explores how adversarial training and ensemble NLP techniques can improve the robustness of automated short-answer grading systems, especially in high-stakes medical exams. I also evaluated large language models like for detecting adversarial responses, emphasizing the role of model choice and prompt design. Grateful to my advisors Dr. Yiyun Zhou and Dr. Peter Baldwin and Dr. Victoria Yaneva from NBME for their guidance, and a special thank you to Dr. Ting Zhang, Ph.D. for chairing the session and making the presentation possible! In medical education, feedback is not just about pointing out what went right or wrong—it's about providing actionable feedback that guides students toward improvement. 🌟The key is giving learners clear, specific feedback that helps them understand their mistakes, reflect on their performance and take concrete steps for growth. 🔔Actionable feedback empowers #students to enhance their skills and clarify their decision-making. It goes beyond evaluation to focus on practical changes, ensuring students know exactly how to improve. This is the essence of assessment for learning: fostering continuous development and helping future physicians refine their practice every step of the way. 🔗 Learn about generating actionable #feedback in a blog on our website from NBME Visiting Scholar Anastasiya Lipnevich, PhD: https://lnkd.in/eCrtCvza. #FormativeAssessment #AssessmentforLearning #Education
