Stronger Together: Reflections from the 2025 NCWorks Partnership Conference
This year’s NCWorks Partnership Conference centered around “Stronger Together,” highlighting the power of collaboration and partnership across our workforce system. I was honored to represent that vision, presenting three sessions alongside some incredible leaders and experts from across our great state.
First, I teamed up with Phil Prescott, Assistant Director for the Eastern Carolina Workforce Development Board, for a lively connection session that brought together economic development and workforce professionals through a gauntlet of trivia and NC-based prizes.
Next, I partnered with Dr. Andrea Crowley, Executive Director of the North Carolina Student Success Center, to explore AI integration in workforce development and how we can build smarter systems to better serve our organizations and communities.
Finally, I co-presented with Abbie Jordan Currens, Project Manager at EDPNC, on “Workforce Development is Economic Development.” Together, we emphasized how collaboration among workforce, education, and economic development partners makes North Carolina the best place to do business.
Beyond the sessions, I had the privilege of cheering on my former team at Foothills Regional Commission Workforce Development Board for earning two Governor’s Awards of Distinction, and celebrating Karen Adams McIntosh and Danielle A. Harrison, Ed.D., CWDP for their Governor’s Award for Economic Impact, recognizing their remarkable partnership with Toyota Battery Manufacturing in Guilford County.
As I reflect on the week, I’m filled with pride that in a conference dedicated to collaboration, I was able to partner with local workforce boards, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), and the NC Community College System to model exactly what “Stronger Together” looks like in action. The energy, engagement, and feedback from participants reaffirm that when we break down silos and work together, North Carolina’s workforce system becomes stronger for everyone.
