Neighborhood Health Center is part of the Building Care With You movement — a national effort to raise awareness of community health centers. Did you know health centers began in 1965 as part of President Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty? Because of the success of health centers, they've become the backbone of our nation’s largest primary care network. Health centers serve nearly 34 million people annually — 1 in 10 Americans. Welcome to Neighborhood, Yolanda Pereira, FNP-BC! Yolanda is a nurse practitioner in Neighborhood Health Center's internal/family medicine department. Her background includes a fellowship at The National Institutes of Health where she published and worked in research for a number of years. Welcome to Neighborhood, Andrew Lawson, DDS! Dr. Lawson is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. As part of his training, he spent time working in rural Kentucky and Senegal in West Africa -- both areas where many people do not have regular access to dental care. Scheduling for these appointments opens at 3:00 p.m. on the business day prior to the appointment. This replaces our old process of calling at 8:30 a.m. for same-day appointments.
