  • Nelson Mullins is tracking a new requirement from the Madrid Union Assembly, effective November 1, 2025. All international trademark owners, licensees, and representatives must have distinct email addresses on record to request any changes to their registrations. The rule requires including both owner and representative emails in filings such as representative appointments, license recordings, and ownership or address changes. Requests missing this information may be rejected or trigger a Notice of Irregularity, with limited exceptions for electronic submissions. These updates aim to enhance communication and transparency in international trademark management. Nelson Mullins’ Intellectual Property team will continue monitoring developments as these changes take effect. Questions? • The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s 2025 updates to the Section 8 program are changing the game for developers, owners, and investors in project-based voucher and RAD projects. Closer oversight of voucher allocations, stricter financial compliance, and mandatory digital plan submissions mean project timelines and reporting require more attention than ever. NSPIRE inspection standards, extended through 2027, add another layer to plan for in rehab, construction, and HAP renewals. Success will hinge on early coordination with PHAs, careful planning, and staying on top of income limits, rent ceilings, and compliance requirements. These updates reinforce the importance of proactive planning and collaboration to keep projects on track. Read more from partner David Leon and of counsel Vivianette Velazquez: https://lnkd.in/eqjV7hYA Nelson Mullins' Affordable Housing team will continue to monitor developments closely and provide clients with timely guidance on any additional changes that may impact Section 8 programs, PHA operations, or project-based voucher initiatives.

  • Nelson Mullins recently brought together C-suite leaders, private equity investors and family office executives for a Denver, Colorado Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Gathering, where we explored the latest dealmaking trends shaping today’s market. One key takeaway was how the lines between real estate and other asset classes are increasingly blurring, a shift that is changing how transactions are structured and valued. In this short video, Hendrik Jordaan and Eamon Welch discuss insights on why investors should rethink the role of real estate in M&A transactions and how it is becoming a more strategic driver of M&A value creation.
