We’re honored to help the University of Iowa answer that question through the "Tippie of Tomorrow"—a bold new home for the The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. Last week, our team attended the 2025 AIA Iowa Convention in Des Moines, where we participated in continuing education sessions, fostered connections with industry peers, and celebrated a memorable evening of recognition. Neumann Monson Architects is grateful to have received the following six awards: -2025 Central States Interiors for the Roosevelt Library at the Merit level -2025 Excellence in Craft for the Czech Village Clock Tower at the Honorable Mention level -2025 Excellence in Design for the Goschke Family Wrestling Training Center at the Honorable Mention level -2025 Excellence in Design for the Iowa Conservatory at the Honorable Mention level -2025 Excellence in Design for the Little Dutch Academy at the Merit level -2025 Excellence in Design for the Pella Middle and Jefferson Addition at the Honor level We are deeply grateful for this recognition and to our clients, partners, and collaborators who made these projects possible. Each award represents more than a design—it reflects the trust of our clients, the craftsmanship of our partners, and the vision of communities striving to create spaces that educate, inspire, and connect. From supporting cultural preservation to advancing educational opportunities, these projects embody our belief that architecture has the power to enrich lives. We celebrate these achievements not just as milestones for our firm, but as moments that highlight the lasting impact thoughtful design can have on communities across Iowa and beyond. Thank you to everyone who continues to support and inspire our work.

Neumann Monson Architects had the privilege to attend and sponsor the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity event "Hammers and Hardhats" last week in Iowa City. This fundraiser had a silent and live auction, honored two long-time volunteers Wai Yin Chan and Linda "Digger" Barrow, along with the CORE volunteers, live music, and brought awareness to the community! Thank you for everything you do, we are proud to be a part of something so impactful! If you’ve ever wondered how large a roof drainpipe is on a 33-story building, it’s roughly the size of a small child – in this case, Henry! Windows on the first level of 515 Walnut Street in Des Moines were installed quickly and are mostly complete. Level 7 will begin to be poured this week, and installation of the window wall system on unit floors will begin. Summer may be in full swing, but it’s never too late to give our seasonal interns a welcoming shout out! Ethan Edington Ethan is currently pursuing his Master of Architecture at Kansas State University. He brings a broad and hands-on background—from restoring classic cars and historic buildings to apprenticing as a goldsmith in Omaha and making his own fishing lures. Gavin Gerdes Gavin is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Architecture at Iowa State University, along with a Minor in Entrepreneurship. His experience includes an internship with Reinaldo Correa’s Studio, where he contributed to the design and fabrication of immersive art installations. Gavin is also a published writer and illustrator of children’s books—Bloom and The Day the Ducks Swam in the Sky—which explore themes of anxiety, loss, and emotional growth. To recharge, he turns to the outdoors: running with friends, playing basketball and flag football, fishing, and hiking are among his favorite activities. We are excited to have them join us!
