✨ A Project So Good, We're Doing Another When 1,000+ families show up asking for land ownership opportunities, you know something's working. Our project in Jamay, Jalisco proved what we've always believed: vulnerable families aren't looking for charity, they're looking for a chance to participate in a housing market that actually serves them. The result? We're expanding. Jamay II is moving forward 👉 → 350 families have already committed with down payments → Proven partnership model (local developer UR+PA + municipal government) → More efficient market entry through established trust and infrastructure This is what market-based solutions look like at scale. When you flip the script from charity to customer empowerment, demand speaks for itself. Watch our managing director of investments Enrique Mezo Herrera with Jamay's mayor at the latest community event [https://lnkd.in/ejPa74Xx].

Traditional charity can't scale to meet the 1.8 billion people without adequate housing. Here's how our partnership model creates sustainable change: 🤝 Strategic partnerships: We're building a network of local banks and developers who understand the market 💰 Financial innovation: Bridge loans fund land development 🏡 Quality outcomes: Families get market-value homes they can afford because they own land and have credit history The result? Families transitioning from renting and informal settlements to homeownership. When you combine land ownership, established credit, and construction support, homeownership becomes accessible. We scale impact by working with the market, not against it. (Excerpt of Brett Hagler on POWERS podcast, Episode #289)

Last week’s launch of "The Spark" by Gina Sanders brought together inspiring entrepreneurs and changemakers. Check out the story in Vogue! https://lnkd.in/eNWjBKDf Brett Hagler, our CEO and co-founder, spoke about how New Story is transforming thousands of vulnerable families' lives by reconfiguring the path to home and land ownership. What an honor to be part of this incredible celebration and to have such talented, visionary people supporting our mission. The energy in that room was electric, surrounded by entrepreneurs, creators, and leaders who understand that bold ideas can change the world. A special thank you to Gina Sanders and Gina's Collective for featuring us in your new book. Here's to the spark that drives us all forward.🥂
Introducing The Spark: Portraits of Purpose. ✨ This book is the result of years spent working alongside extraordinary nonprofit organizations through Gina’s Collective. It captures the wisdom, resilience, and courage of founders who are reimagining housing, expanding access to social services, building sustainable tech pathways, and ensuring dignified work through innovation. Last week’s launch event at Bibliotheque in SoHo featured a fireside chat with Brett Hagler (New Story), Rose Afriyie (mRelief), Laura Hackney (AnnieCannons), and Manu Chopra (Karya): four remarkable leaders whose stories remind us why this work matters so deeply. Watching the audience lean in, even through the harder truths, reminds us that purpose shared openly has the power to move us all forward. I’m so grateful for our evening’s hosts (Anna Wintour, Amy Astley, Samantha Barry, Jessica Cruel, Jamila Robinson, Versha Sharma, Fran Tirado) and to my collaborator, Jezz Chung, who helped bring these pages to life. And to Vogue for so beautifully capturing the spirit of the night: (https://lnkd.in/gUjSqaTM) Ultimately, my hope is that The Spark encourages us to pause, reflect, and then, most importantly, act. Big or small, every step forward carries the power to spark change.

Esmeralda just celebrated the inauguration of her new home in Etzatlán! 🏡 As a single mom and stylist, Esmeralda used to worry every six months when her rental lease was up. She wanted security for her 5-year-old son and a place to pass down to him. Through our land program, she went from renter to landowner to homeowner. Now, she has her own space where she can run her styling business and her son can grow up safely. The best part? She was able to host family and friends in her home for the first time to celebrate the occasion. "I hope home is a place where my son can learn from me and I can learn from him. A place for us to feel safe." This is what market-based solutions look like in action. When families can participate in the housing market instead of depending on charity, amazing things happen.

Momentum is building in Jamay, Mexico. ✅ 32 families prepaid for their lots and chose the exact location where they’ll build 🎉 Dozens more participated in a lot raffle to discover which plot will become theirs after payments are complete 🚀 And now... 350 more families just made down payments in our next project: Jamay 2 All of this is possible because of a radically different approach to housing. Instead of waiting 10+ years for land through traditional systems, these clients will receive legal land titles in just 24 months thanks to the support of our development partner UR+PA and the municipality. This is why we've flipped the script from charity to market-based solutions. Families aren't waiting for handouts. They want to build equity, stability, and a future they own. More to come from Jamay 2 soon.

Today was an exciting day for New Story. In Morelos, we joined Governor Margarita González Saravia to celebrate improved housing conditions for families in Tlayacapan, an important step toward adequate housing. We were also invited to join the Coalición por la Vivienda en México, a multi-stakeholder platform led by CONARED, SEDATU and UN-Habitat, which convenes civil society and government to strengthen national housing policy. Momentum is growing, and we’re proud to be part of the collaboration needed to tackle Mexico’s housing challenges.
