  • Newell is proud to support local educators near our Atlanta, GA headquarters through our partnership with The Empty Stocking Fund, Inc. (ESF), a nonprofit that provides holiday gifts and school supplies to disadvantaged children and families. Our brands Sharpie®, Paper Mate®, Elmer’s®, EXPO® and X-Acto® equipped 845 teachers from 262 metro Atlanta schools and counting with essential supplies through their programs, such as the Teacher Resource Center. This partnership allows educators to focus on teaching rather than scarcity, creating meaningful impact for thousands of students. Educator Candace Darden shared: “These donations help create a more equitable classroom environment where every student has the tools they need to succeed.” We’re honored to contribute to ESF’s mission and impact in education equity and building stronger communities.

  • Camping gear just got a little... stranger. Coleman® has teamed up with Netflix’s Stranger Things to launch a nostalgic, limited-edition outdoor gear collection that blends retro style with modern functionality. Inspired by the show’s 1980s setting and the eerie charm of Hawkins, the “Upside Down Collection” features reimagined Coleman staples, including tents, coolers, chairs, and sleeping bags, adorned in vintage reds, golds, and blues with classic stripe graphics. This collaboration not only celebrates the countdown to the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, but also invites fans to create their own adventures with gear that’s equal parts practical and pop culture-infused. • Our President & CEO Chris Peterson once asked our Sharpie® team a bold question: “Can we make it in Maryville?” The answer is now clear. Our Maryville, TN facility is a model for modern American manufacturing, producing over half a billion markers annually, faster and more efficiently than ever before. Since 2018, we’ve invested nearly $2 billion across our manufacturing operations, upskilled our workforce, and reimagined our supply chain. The result? A 37-year-old facility transformed into the heart of our Writing business, powering brands like Sharpie, Expo, Elmer’s and Paper Mate. This story is a testament to what’s possible when we invest in our people, automation, and long-term vision. Learn more about how we made it happen below!

🔗: https://on.wsj.com/4nFr6ey Tucked in the foothills of Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains is a factory that has figured out a way to manufacture in America that’s cheaper, quicker and better. It’s the home of a famous American writing implement: the Sharpie marker. At least half a billion Sharpie markers are churned out here every year, each one made of six parts. Only the felt tip is imported from Japan. It didn’t used to be this way. Back in 2018, many Sharpies were made abroad. That’s when Chris Peterson, who was the CFO of Sharpie maker Newell Brands, challenged his team to answer a question: How could they keep Newell from becoming obsolete compared with factories in Asia? “I felt like we had an opportunity to dramatically improve our U.S. manufacturing,” he said. Peterson is now the CEO. And these days, most Sharpies—in all 93 colors—are made at this 37-year-old factory. Newell did it without reducing the employee count, and without raising prices. But to get to this place took close to $2 billion in investments across the company, thousands of hours of training and a total overhaul of the production process. The result is a playbook for making low-cost, high-volume products domestically, albeit one that requires long-term planning and a lot of investment.

We believe in recognizing the essential workers who keep our communities clean, safe, and thriving. From custodians and facility managers to environmental service teams, these professionals are the backbone of schools, hospitals, workplaces, and public spaces. It's fun to see the momentum this appreciation movement has gained over the last four years, and I am excited to see our Huntersville, NC, employees joining together this week to serve the individuals who use our products to make a difference. #NationalCustodianDay
