Thank you to nference for putting together today’s summit focused on Agentic AI Innovation and for offering me the opportunity to join the panel focused on the promise and challenges in applying Agentic AI in drug discovery, translational & clinical research. I appreciated learning about the promise of Agentic AI across the entire value chain from target discovery to clinical development and patient outcomes from fellow panelists Karen Akinsanya Benjamine Liu Jordan Zwick, CLP and Fiona Spence expertly led by AJ Venkatakrishnan. The opportunity for Agentic AI to drive a journey to cure a disease in a patient - better harness data across diverse sources and types to generate and continuously refine biological hypotheses, select the optimal modality, design the most effective agent, test in highly predictive models, and address efficacy and safety in well-defined patient populations through adaptive study designs—is truly exciting. While AI more broadly has raised significant and well-founded ethical concerns, it’s particularly interesting that Agentic AI has the potential to serve as an unexpected ethical ally. It could act as a gatekeeper—reducing the enrollment of patients in trials unlikely to benefit them, and enabling more efficient and judicious use of animals in preclinical research.

Insightful discussions at the 1st Agentic AI Innovation Summit, organized by #nference, bringing together academia, pharma, diagnostic companies, and healthcare organizations to explore the integration of AI into healthcare. I had the honor of participating in a panel focused on AI Innovations in Oncology, alongside distinguished experts such as Dr. Miller from Parabillis Medicines, Dr. Svati Shah from Duke Precision Genomics Collaboratory at Duke Health, and Dr. Patrick Lenehan, Head of Clinical Sciences at #nference.
