NIRSA Member School Spotlight: Red Rocks Community College Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) is a public institution within the Colorado Community College System, with two campuses in Colorado: one in Lakewood and another in Arvada, in the Denver metro area. The rolling hills of the 140-acre Lakewood campus—located just half a dozen miles Northeast of the world-famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre—make for stunning views and support an active community with a sand volleyball court, tennis and basketball courts, a running track, and walking trails. The student body—which comprises over 12,000 students—is extremely diverse; high school students taking early college courses and retirees learning for personal enjoyment sit alongside each other, and students beginning their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree might find themselves learning next to established professionals starting a new career or adding to their knowledge base. RRCC mission is to provide career relevant education and experiences that empower all students to thrive.  The Student Recreation Center team is aligned under the Student Affairs Division of the college. Alongside their colleagues, staff are working to provide students with opportunities for growth and development that set the foundation for self-directed learning, academic achievement, and career accomplishment. Student Recreation empowers the Red Rocks Community to thrive by fostering holistic lifestyles through diverse recreational experiences, meaningful connections, and opportunities for student development and success.  By the numbers A NIRSA member school since July of 1990 4 professionals and 40 students make up RRCC’s Recreation staff 2 individual members of NIRSA 23 sports opportunities were offered to students during the 2024-2025 academic year 60+ programs and events each semester. Equipped with modern weight training and cardio equipment, as well as open fitness space, the facility expands access to recreation and supports student success through movement, community, and wellbeing. The SRC facility will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2027.
