  • How biosolutions make the world of food and beverages better ❤️ Today is World Food Day. Andrew Taylor, our EVP of Food & Beverage Biosolutions, helps highlight the impact of biosolutions on many of the food and beverage products we use every day:  "When it comes to food and beverages, biology has been a natural fit for thousands of years. Products like cheese, yoghurt, bread, meat, soy sauce and beer are among thousands of culinary traditions that have been shaped by biology in the form of enzymes and cultures. With biosolutions, we can give people more of what they want and less of what they don't. Producers can also cut costs while delivering the authenticity and quality that their consumers love," he says.   At Novonesis, we harness and amplify the power of cultures and enzymes in our biosolutions so producers can help make the world of food and beverages even better with biology. 🌱 Learn more about our biosolutions for food and beverages here: https://lnkd.in/eNq6Dfku #biosolutions #worldfoodday #foodandbeverages #enzymes

  • From CO₂ to food: New chapter of climate-resilient food innovation It was recently announced that the pioneering collaboration project to turn CO₂ into nutritious food is moving into its next phase. We are proud to be a part of this initiative along with many partners, including Topsoe, University of Copenhagen, Spora, Aarhus University, Orkla Foods and Northwestern University.  The Acetate Consortium project was initiated in 2023 and has the goal of mitigating food insecurity and climate change as well as eliminating land use for food production. In the coming period, promising solutions will be scaled and food prototypes will be produced and tested. Our Chief Scientific Officer Claus Crone Fuglsang shared his thoughts on the project: "While biosolutions already today help mitigate carbon footprint, ensure renewability, limit waste and increase sustainability of products and processes around the world, the possibility to move biomanufacturing from sugar or agricultural feedstock to complete carbon neutral and potentially even carbon negative feedstock offers an enormous future potential for driving further sustainability with renewable biosolutions. By transforming CO₂ and electricity into acetate and using it to produce sustainable, nutritious food, this initiative could redefine how we think about food production, eliminating the need for agricultural land. This holds amazing perspectives for mitigating food insecurity and climate change," he said. The initiative is co-funded by Gates Foundation and Novo Nordisk Foundation.
