💲 Are tariffs affecting DIY? 💲 The top intended shopping categories for Spring Black Friday 2025 were: 🌻 Gardening and lawn care (46% of respondents) 🖌️ Painting supplies (29%) 🌱 Garden tools (29%) 🧰 Storage and organization (28%) 🏡 Patio furniture/decor (26%) 💲 37% of consumers say they do not anticipate tariffs impacting their home improvement / home and garden spending, while 32% anticipate spending more on these products before prices increase, and 31% anticipate spending less and/or changing what they buy if prices increase. 🏗️ Consumers are most concerned about tariffs impacting building supplies (32% of respondents) and major appliances (31%). 🏬 72% of Spring Black Friday happened in-store, while 28% happened online. 💲🏠 Saving on home improvement projects 🏠💲 According to an April 2025 Numerator survey, 🧰 Both high-income and low-income homeowners say they buy private label products to save money (43% and 40%, respectively). 🔨 The top products that homeowners would consider purchasing as private label are storage and organization (42%); adhesives, caulk, or filler (36%); lighting & electrical (30%); paint/stain applicator supplies (28%); and hand tools (25%). 💲 25% of high-income homeowners say economic factors have not significantly influenced their home improvement plans vs. 13% of low-income homeowners. 🔧 39% of low-income homeowners say they are prioritizing essential repairs over cosmetic or optional upgrades (vs. 31% for high-income homeowners). The Numerator Consumer Sentiment Tracker gives us a look at how consumers are feeling in today’s economy. 💲 The April Consumer Confidence Score was 55.1 (-1.4 points vs. March), which is an average of how consumers feel about the job market, their household finances, and their spending comfort levels. 💰 Thinking about one year from now, 26% think their finances will be better than they are now (-2 points), 48% think they’ll be the same (-1 point), and 2% think they’ll be worse (+2 points). 💼 33% of consumers think it’s very or somewhat difficult to find employment in the current job market, up from last month and last year. 💲 47% of consumers say their household’s financial situation is currently good or very good (-3 points).
