After studying civil engineering, Brennan never expected to add train track inspector to his list of acquired skills. Now, as a senior rail manager at OPPD, he cruises the tracks, checking for subtle issues that could arise on the 60 total miles of rail line that OPPD owns and operates, playing a crucial role in keeping reliable, affordable energy flowing.⚡ Nebraska's unpredictable weather can put stress on the lines, which carry coal cars from Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. In the summer, as the lines heat up and expand, the track can start to curve or buckle. ☀️ Brennan says, “The rails love to move. It’s an ongoing work in progress. There are always little upgrades being made.”🚆 Since trains run 24/7, between OPPD’s facilities and Wyoming, Brennan also works with contracted crews to ensure a safe, smooth ride for the cars, help maintain and repair the line, and quickly respond to issues. 💪 #energyindustry

To help kick off Mental Health Awareness Month, OPPD welcomed Lori from The Wellbeing Partners to speak about building a mental wellbeing toolkit. Working with a community partner is part of our continued initiative to support the mental health of our employees, along with providing activities and training which include defining mental health, offering mental health first aid basics, and learning how to support someone who is struggling.🧡 #mentalhealthawarenessmonth

We hosted a CHaRM (Collection of Hard to Recycle Materials) event for employees this week for #EarthDay, making it easier than ever to recycle and repurpose items that don’t belong in landfills. Our employees made a real impact in just one day: ♻️ Recycled nearly 1,300 feet of Christmas lights ♻️ Repurposed 320+ pounds of household goods and several larger furniture items ♻️ Recycled 20 pounds of batteries and e-waste ♻️ Collected six 13-gallon bags of thin plastic grocery bags Thank you to everyone who cleaned out their closets, garages and storage bins to help power a cleaner planet. ⚡
