It’s been a full-on week focused on freight crime – starting with the Europol event in Barcelona alongside our European law enforcement partners, and finishing at the International Supply Chain Protection Organisation (ISCPO) event hosted by Verkada in London. I was invited to speak about the future of organised freight crime intelligence, and how NaVCIS and Opal SOAC are working together to pursue offenders and protect businesses across the UK’s supply chain. It was great to share insights, hear from industry colleagues, and see how much passion there is across both policing and the private sector to make our supply chains safer and more resilient. A fantastic opportunity to bring together European law enforcement leaders and industry partners to share insights, understand the evolving freight crime threat, and explore how it impacts businesses across Europe. I presented the Uk approach to freight crime and the outstanding work by Mike Dawber and the wider team at NaVCIS who have been instrumental in raising the issues of freight crime and supporting businesses. Opal will be hosting a new capability in the next few months which will be working hand in glove with NaVCIS and targeting the OCG’s responsible. Freight crime is not just a logistics issue — it’s a serious organised crime threat that funds wider criminal activity. Collaboration between police and industry is key to tackling it effectively. A really motivating two days at the IAATI UK conference, hosted by the Henry Ford Academy. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and to meet so many new police and industry colleagues and I’m so excited to build on these conversations to strengthen our vehicle crime desk at Opal SOAC. It was a real privilege to open the discussions on day one providing the insights on the national landscape of motor and commercial vehicle theft.
