Justin Fischgrund, P.E. is so right on this. AI is just one tool of many for operational change. Making AI solutions "production ready" can be a killer. Make sure AI is the right tool for the job, and the value it creates exceeds the last mile effort it takes to get it right.
Flashy demos are cheap. Operational change is expensive. That’s why hype-heavy AI efforts feel exciting early and disappointing later. Real value shows up when: • Decisions get faster • Errors drop • People trust the system • Workflows actually change If none of those move, the project didn’t work, no matter how impressive the slides looked. I’ve seen teams celebrate a launch and then quietly stop using the tool weeks later. Not because it was broken, but because nothing meaningful changed. That’s an expensive lesson.

We had some fun prepping for our internal training at at OpenArc, LLC. Check out the video! We are always looking for ways to improve productivity, but what is FLOW? In business and Kanban, FLOW refers to the smooth, continuous, and regulated movement of WORK ITEMS (tasks, projects, or products) through a process from start to finish. Rather than focusing on keeping individual workers busy ("resource efficiency"), flow focuses on the efficiency of the work itself ("flow efficiency"), ensuring that value moves from inception to completion with minimal interruptions, delays, or bottlenecks.

I went dark on LI there for a while. I've been working with our delivery team to figure out how to effectively use AI for delivering complex, high quality software for our clients. Cutting through the hype to get to what is real and discovering how we need to change our processes to take advantage of Gen AI has taken deep analysis and a scientific approach. We are still optimizing, and always will be, just at a faster pace than we had to in the past. But this is imperative for our organization. I'll be sharing what we've learned in future posts.
