Here’s how we’re making that happen: • Our system is 9x more reliable than the national average, thanks to our innovative network design and strategic investments. • We’re helping New Yorkers manage costs through energy efficiency programs and affordability initiatives, while also addressing key drivers like property taxes. • Our climate studies and PSC-approved resiliency plans guide long-term infrastructure investments to protect against extreme weather. • From buildings to transportation, we’re enabling real-world electrification across our service territory, while ensuring reliability every step of the way. Our investments in New York and New Jersey’s energy system go beyond delivering reliable power and responsive service. They help create economic opportunities for the communities we serve and fuel the growth of our New York and New Jersey economies. To better understand the impact of these investments, Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. and Rockland, Utilities Inc. partnered with HR&A Advisors to measure how reliable power drives economic growth in our service territory. I'm proud of the impact we have and the role we play in supporting this region, and the newly released 2024 Economic Impact Report highlights this impact.  More than 96% of O&R employees live in New York and New Jersey, so it’s crucial that our investments benefit local businesses, create career opportunities for our communities, and support the continued growth of our region as a whole with reliable and resilient energy.  Here are some of the highlights from the report:  - Our economic activity supports 3,300 jobs in New York and New Jersey, including 1,200 jobs directly employed at O&R. That’s 1 in 450 jobs in our service area.   - Last year, over $174 million was spent with New York and New Jersey-based businesses, including $65 million in contracts with small businesses. That means our dollars are being spent with local suppliers and recycled right back into the local economy.   - Half of our workforce are members of a union and the career development opportunities we provide create sustaining jobs and career advancement for our employees.   - We hire from local institutions, with 41% of employees graduating from State University of New York schools and New Jersey public colleges/universities, and 91% coming from New York- or New Jersey-based colleges and universities overall.     We will continue to partner with our local stakeholders, our communities, and our employees to deliver reliable energy and create opportunities in the region we proudly serve. • Today, the New York State Department of Public Service approved a pilot for the Expanded Energy Affordability Program (EEAP) broadening income eligibility so more customers can enroll to receive discounts on their energy bills. We know affordability is top of mind for many of our customers, especially as the cost of living continues to rise. That’s why we contributed to the design and actively advocated for this expansion as part of the EEAP working group. This pilot is a critical step toward reaching more of the customers who need support the most. We are committed to working with the Department of Public Service staff and our community partners to implement this pilot and raise awareness so every income-eligible customer can benefit.

  • We’re investing in a cleaner, stronger energy future through our 10-year, $750 million Infrastructure Investment Plan. This initiative will modernize our transmission lines, substations, and electric distribution networks to meet growing residential and commercial energy demand. These upgrades will improve service reliability, enhance resiliency during extreme weather, and support the transition to clean energy. The plan will also strengthen the grid, create local jobs, stimulate economic growth, and help ensure our customers continue to receive affordable, reliable service. • We’re honored to receive the Al Samuels Award for Overall Business Excellence from the Rockland Business Association. This recognition reflects our commitment to innovation, reliability, and community impact. O&R has invested over $1 billion in storm hardening over the past decade—and we’re planning to invest $5.5 billion more in the next 10 years to modernize our grid, meet growing demand, and support clean energy. Thank you to the Rockland Business Association.
