Our amazing local Foster Grandparents celebrated 60 years of this life-changing AmeriCorps program today by sharing food, laughter and lots of stories at our Central Office in Medford. "I just fell in love with the fact that I can go into the classroom, I can direct them and give them self-confidence and a smile and some love," said Pam Murphy, who's been a Foster Grandparent for 15 years, most of them at Washington Elementary School in Medford. "When their eyes get big and they're excited, there's nothing more gratifying than to see a child say, 'I can do it.'" If giving a child a chance to succeed in life tugs at your heart, find out more about this program by calling us at 541-857-7786, emailing us at FGP@retirement.org, or visiting cvnvolunteer.org. Foster Grandparents assist in the classroom and receive a stipend for their work. Hours and locations are flexible. #AmeriCorpsSeniors #FosterGrandparents60 #WhatsYourWhy #CVN

🌟 Even The Duck 🦆 got in the act! Big shout-out to our partner Cascade Manor in Eugene for their spectacular event today celebrating the groundbreaking of 29 new homes. Over 200 people gathered to pose with golden shovels and The Duck, whose antics never fail to disappoint (you might see him photo-bombing Executive Kim Sornson as she talks to reporters on tonight’s news). Dining Services created artistic and delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts for the event, and The Celeste String Quartet from South Eugene High School entertained the crowd. Many thanks to the teams who are working so hard on this exciting project! #Groundbreaking #TheCamas
