𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐦𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞: 𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐀 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐈𝐈𝐛 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 AstraZeneca’s Airsupra (albuterol/budesonide) has redefined rescue therapy for asthma. The landmark BATURA Phase IIIb trial, published in NEJM and presented at ATS 2025, showed Airsupra reduced severe exacerbations by 47% versus albuterol alone in mild asthma patients. This statistically significant and clinically meaningful outcome supports the anti-inflammatory reliever approach, aligning with global guidelines recommending as-needed combination therapy for all asthma severities—including mild cases. Airsupra also cut systemic corticosteroid exposure by 63%, minimizing long-term health risks.
