The Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival (PHLAFF) is committed to uplifting emerging and established Latine/x/a/o creatives and filmmakers by showcasing the richness, complexity, and cultural breadth of our communities. Through a year-round constellation of programs, PHLAFF advances cross-cultural dialogue, fosters inclusive storytelling, and contributes to a more equitable cultural landscape. PHLAFF exists for us—by us. We’re a cultural home for Latine/x/a/o creatives and audiences to share stories, connect across generations, and dream new futures together. Our mission is to celebrate our shared heritage while creating opportunities for artists to thrive and communities to unite through the power of film, food, music, and more.

In the summer of 2025, Diaspo Rico partnered with Casa Saffra to bring La Sala Libre—an immersive, seven-week cultural activation in the heart of Santurce.✨ We're so excited to share the DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS conversation with director Ari Maniel Cruz, lead actor Jacobo Morales, and producer Blanca Silvia Eró. Join us as we dive more into the process of the short film and learn more about the overall impact of the residency. We're excited to announce that PHLAFF will be hosting a special Fall programming series that highlights films from our 2025 season. Join us at CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia on October 24th, starting at 4:30 PM, for an evening of Brazilian cinema! 4:30 PM - Kaapora O chamado das matas Told through the eyes of Indigenous leader Olinda, this film explores the deep connection between Indigenous Peoples, the land, and spirituality—guided by the presence of Kaapora and other ancestral spirits. 5:00 PM - Three (Extra)Ordinary Women Follows three women of color as they climb Mount Kilimanjaro, confronting both the mountain and the personal struggles they’ve overcome through sisterhood, nature, and resilience. 6:45 PM - Amadeu: the man and the Capoeira legend Great Capoeira master, massage therapist, father, grandfather, and community leader, Amadeu Martins remembers his career through meetings and docufiction plays. 8:00 PM - CACICA – a força da mulher Xavante A poetic-musical short documentary exploring the life of Carolina Rewaptu, the first female Xavante chief and a key voice in reclaiming and reforesting Brazil’s Indigenous lands.
