Columbus founders have a lot of heart. Last night, we hosted another Founder Group Therapy Dinner. Hosted with some of Columbus’s most thoughtful founders, investors, and operators — we gathered around the table to talk about what it really takes to build something from the ground up. From managing our psychology and staying hopeful, to navigating cofounder dynamics, culture, and capital — no topic was off the table. Thank you to our sponsors for honoring spaces for founders to thrive: ➡️ Techstars Columbus Powered by The Ohio State University (Tim Grace) ➡️ Theanna (Nomiki Petrolla) ➡️ Dan Manges ➡️ Silicon Valley Bank (Nicholas Jones) ➡️ Drive Capital (Landon W. Campbell) ➡️ Ohio Founder’s Club (Yon Raz-Fridman) ➡️ Pie (Andy Dunn) Who wants to attend the next one? Stay tuned on the Pie app. getpie.app #ColumbusStartups #FoundersDinner #StartupLife #ChronicallyOffline #Columbus #Founders

We won the 1871 Rising Star Award!!🚀🏆 This award celebrates the Chicago startup with the biggest potential to shake things up from product, team, to impact. And we couldn’t be prouder to rep CHICAGO while making it easier (and way more fun) to hang out with the people you enjoy. 🥧💫 This is just the beginning. Thanks for being part of the journey 🩷 https://lnkd.in/gV6X2C8k

Vote for Pie for the 1871 Rising Star Award at the 1871 Momentum Awards! Voting closes tonight at 11:59pm! vote here: https://getpie.at/nBWZl1fz
Well, this is cool. Pie is a finalist for the Rising Star Award at the 1871 Momentum Awards. Voting closes tomorrow, August 14th. Here's the deal: we built an app that connects you to cool stuff happening around you and the people doing it. Which sounds simple until you realize how bad most of us are at finding fun things to do. You know that Sunday afternoon feeling when you're staring at your phone wondering what's actually happening in your city? Or when you want to try that new cooking class but don't want to show up alone? Yeah, we solved that. 1871 is where Chicago's biggest tech stories started. They've seen hundreds of companies come through. That they picked us as finalists means we might actually be onto something here. The truth is, most "social" apps just make you scroll more. We actually get you off your couch and into the world. Novel concept, I know. If you've ever wanted to try something new but didn't know where to start... if you think social apps should make you more social, not less... vote for Pie. A few months ago, I went to see Zarna Garg live with my mom, aunt, and cousin—and we were crying laughing. Her set was sharp, fearless, and incredibly vulnerable. After the show, I introduced myself (and instantly connected with her daughter, Zoya), and walked away thinking: we absolutely need to bring this kind of energy to NY TECH WEEK by a16z. So here we are. On Monday, June 2nd at 9:30am, join us at Spring Place for a very special fireside chat between Zarna Garg (comedian, entrepreneur, and author of This American Woman) and Andy Dunn—the legendary founder of Bonobos, now building Pie, and the author of Burn Rate, a raw and powerful memoir about mental health, entrepreneurship, and resilience. Together, they'll talk about taking bold leaps, navigating reinvention, and building personal brands that actually stand out. It’s the kind of conversation that makes you laugh, think, and maybe even reimagine what’s next for you. Proud to be co-hosting this #NYTechWeek event with Braun & Brains (Rachel Braun), Imera (Liesel Vaidya), and Origin Ventures (Jacquie Marshall Siegmund + Jason Heltzer). A huge thank you to our sponsors: Brex (Erica Wenger 🏕️), Microsoft for Startups (Cathy Zhu), Morgan Stanley (Chelsea Brogan, CFP®), Origin Ventures, Reitler Kailas & Rosenblatt LLP (Theophila Lee) and Stifel Bank (Annabella Kwei + Kacey Connolly) for making this event possible. Spots are limited, and every attendee will receive a signed copy of Zarna’s book. Link to RSVP in the comments!

Super awesome to be live on a new podcast with Guy Raz on How I Built This with Guy Raz this week. Got a chance to apply learnings from building Bonobos and Pie to three talented up and coming founders. Alek building a genius vodka brand called Broda Beverage Company, Michele building with hot tennis apparel brand Top Banana, and Sabrina with the tasty Haus of Biscotti. This was my third rodeo with Guy. The first, on building Bonobos (2019): https://lnkd.in/gW_sCien The second, on my memoir Burn Rate and journey with mental health (2022): https://lnkd.in/gwMNxwSz And now, Advice Line, shining the spotlight on others, which is the coolest. https://lnkd.in/g7VyaT-W

Yesterday, Black Student Athlete Association - IIT hosted Jordan Williams on campus. He shared valuable experiences of how he transitioned from college sports to the real world and what prompted him to build one of the largest run clubs in the city of Chicago - Chicago Run Collective. Jordan also introduced us to Pie , a app where you can find social events in your city. One of my biggest takeaways from yesterday was to always participate and pitch yourself! Thanks for coming Jordan!!
