Nearly 100 years ago, the steel mills of Roebling, NJ, built the steel parts that became the George Washington Bridge. Now, one of its original cables has come home. The Port Authority has donated the cable to the Roebling Museum as part of Restoring the George — a $2 billion program to rehabilitate the 93-year-old bridge and honor both its past and its future.
