Ms. Anna Silva, our Cruise Ops Manager at Port Everglades Terminal LLC, is representing us at the 2025 WISPA International Conference in Barcelona, Spain, this week!
Founded in 1974, the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA International) is a global organization that connects female executives and decision-makers worldwide. WISTA International serves as a connector for its network of more than 6,000 female professionals from all sectors of the maritime industry.
62 countries support a National WISTA Association (NWA), each of which, in turn, is a member of and guided by WISTA International. NWAs provide in-country and regional networking, business and skill-building opportunities, corporate visibility, and facilitate relationships within the industry.
On a global scale, WISTA members have access to an incredibly diverse network of executives in the shipping and trading field on whom they can call for referrals, connections, advice, or business collaborations.
Not your typical Barcelona vacation but...
How many people get to hear from the International Maritime Organization Secretary General a week after MEPC? First session, first question during the 2025 WISTA International Conference. No punches pulled and nothing sugar coated. It was thrilling to be in the same room and hear his thoughts.

Today, Broward County Government hosted the ✂️ribbon cutting ceremony for the Greater Fort Lauderdale / Broward County Convention Center expansion and Convention Center Connector (Bypass Road), attended by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners including Mayor Beam Furr.

"Cruise Season is OFFICIALLY underway at Port Everglades"
Today marked an exciting kickoff as we launch into another dynamic season that fuels our local economy and community in big ways:
Cruise operations at Port Everglades support over 5,389 local jobs and generate an impressive $1.7 BILLION in economic activity. That’s billion with a “B” — and we’re just getting started!
Our team was proud to be part of the opening session today with
Ms. Anna Silva, Cruise Operations Manager for Port Everglades Terminal LLC
and Mr. Frank Rovirosa. Director of Labor Relations and Cruise.
This year, we learned at the meeting about some important initiatives:
“See Something, Say Something” — Safety is everyone’s responsibility. It’s always better to speak up and be wrong than stay silent and be right.
And a proud update: Port Everglades is now part of the (Sunflower Hidden Disabilities Program), making travel more inclusive and accessible for all.
Cheers to a safe, successful, and spectacular cruise season ahead! 🍾

Humberto Lopez, our Senior Chief Director of Security, was honored to represent Port Everglades Terminal LLC at the recent "Situational Awareness Training" event, which supported over 100,000 military members, veterans, and their families.
This important training was made possible by the MoH Carter Detachment 052 of the Marine Corps League and VFW Post 3559 in Miami Beach. It brought together Veterans and Community Leaders to share knowledge, enhance preparedness, and strengthen community ties.
Notable attendees included:
Ret. US Army Colonel Noel C. Pace, Esq., MHA, FACHE, Military Affairs Board Member, Miami-Dade County
Raul Mas, former Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (CASA)
Monique K. Pardo Pope, Miami Beach Commission Candidate
The session was expertly led by MGySgt Abiud (Abi) Montes ☆LION☆, whose dedication and insight made this an invaluable experience.
As our Sr. Chief Director of Security (FSO/VSO) at Port Everglades Terminal, Humberto fully endorses this training for all community-based organizations. Situational awareness is not just a skill—it's a responsibility we all share in safeguarding our communities.

Safety First, Always Learning!
Today was an incredible learning experience at Port Everglades Terminal LLC as we hosted Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Fire Rescue for a technical rescue exercise using one of our Rubber Tire Gantry (RTG) cranes.
This collaborative drill not only strengthened our emergency preparedness but also gave our team and BSO valuable hands-on experience in responding to high-stakes situations within a container terminal environment.
After the exercise, we held a hot wash to debrief, ask questions, and capture lessons learned — because continuous improvement is at the heart of everything we do.
Key Takeaways / Best Practices:
Post someone at the terminal entrance to guide emergency responders to the scene — and keep them there for additional units.
Secure power in the affected area immediately.
Manage the chaos:
Isolate the area
Eliminate distractions
Move non-essential personnel away from the scene
Be ready when responders arrive with manifest, B/L, MSDS, and any useful facility resources.
A big thank you to BSO Fire Rescue for your professionalism and partnership — and to our team at PET for always stepping up to improve safety and readiness. 👏
