Portland State University's Center for Public Service Fellowships Program has recruited exceptionally qualified, trained, and diverse fellowship candidates from prestigious institutions throughout the U.S. to serve as project managers for Oregon's public sector in 2026. Our fellows provide skill capacity near-term to ensure critical projects are completed, despite staffing restraints. Candidates are prepared to support sponsors in areas such as research and analysis, community engagement, program evaluation, and so much more. Join us in recognizing our Visiting Scholars from the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG), South Korea, Mihee and Minjung. As part of a year-long professional development program, SMG leaders engage in customized training—including ESL, seminars on U.S. local government, site visits across Oregon, and final presentations—while also conducting individual research projects aligned with their professional interests. The program builds lasting, mutually beneficial partnerships between professionals in the Portland metro area and South Korea, fostering leadership development, shared learning, and cross-cultural understanding on both sides. CPS has been hosting SMG scholars since 2013.

Join us in recognizing our Visiting Scholar, Chihori Ota. Chihori was sent by the Ministry of Education, Japan, as part of the Long-term Education Administrators Program, and currently serves as an administrator at Kobe University, Japan. Since August 2025, she has been a valuable contributor to the Center for Public Service (CPS), providing dedicated support to our international leadership training programs. Her research focuses on “Creating a Comfortable Work Environment for Administrative Staff in Universities,” addressing an important and often overlooked aspect of higher education institutions. Outside of her academic and professional work, Chihori enjoys traveling throughout the United States and experiencing diverse communities and cultures.
