Yes! A big congratulations is in order!
Kudos to our talented team with Paul Doolittle at Poulin | Willey | Anastopoulo and our partners at Gainey McKenna & Egleston for helping to bring accountability in this case and give affected students a voice. "Students said Columbia artificially inflated its U.S. News & World Report ranking for undergraduate schools, reaching No. 2 in 2022, by consistently reporting false data, including that 83% of its classes had fewer than 20 students." The fallout was real - not just to reputation, but to trust. It's about the cost of credibility in higher education. It's about what happens when institutions put prestige above principle. And it’s about making sure that students — and truth — come first. To every student who stood up and said, “That’s not right,” To every future student making life-altering decisions based on these rankings, And to every institution watching this unfold, Let this be a reminder: Integrity is non-negotiable. #ClassAction #Accountability #HigherEducation #ColumbiaUniversity #RankingsLawsuit #TrialLawyers #PlaintiffsBar #StudentRights #GaineyMcKennaEgleston #PoulinWilley $9,000,000.00 Settlement. We’ve been retained to investigate the sudden and unexpected closure of Dockside Condominiums in Charleston, South Carolina. Dozens of residents have been left displaced and searching for answers. Their stories are deeply troubling — and they deserve clarity and accountability. Many of these individuals had called Dockside home for years — some even decades — only to be forced out with little notice and even less information. We are working diligently to uncover the facts surrounding this closure: what led to it, who is responsible, and what rights the residents may have. This investigation is about more than just a building. It’s about people’s lives, their homes, and the trust they placed in those who were supposed to protect their safety and wellbeing. We won’t stop until we get the full story. #charleston #sc #southcarolina #CHS #pressconference #news

We've been in the news a lot this week for a touching and momumental case. We are thankful for the outcome. While this has never been about the money, we are proud to bring our clients justice. Roy Willey and Matt Burgess did an incredible job on this case. - - “I wanted to set a precedent that the people who commit these crimes and do what Mr. Moody did to my daughter, they need everything taken away from them, because they took the most precious thing they could have taken away from me,” Conley said on the witness stand, according to The Sun News. “He’s a psychopath, and so I do not put any credibility one way or the other in anything that comes out of his mind,” attorney Roy Willey told WMBF. “I think that he is very sorry that he got caught. He obviously watched this unfold on his own TV set, and the billboards up the highway for 13 years, and said nothing.” https://lnkd.in/e6aApW2u

A monumental amount of justice. As we have said before, this has never been about the money.
Yesterday, we got a $700,000,000.00 jury verdict. Nuclear? Hardly. Largest jury verdict in South Carolina history? Probably. Matt Burgess and I had the honor of trying the civil case of Dawn Conley v. Raymond Moody. The case was about the emotional damages of Brittanee Drexel's mother suffered at the hands of Moody. The jury delivered a historic verdict: $200 million in actual damages $500 million in punitive damages Dawn deserves every bit of it. But she knows she’ll likely see less than 1%. But that fact doesn’t make the damage done any less. And the jury recognized that. Their verdict was about principle, precedent, and accountability through full justice. Moody inherited some real estate along the way—what’s actually collectible. But for Dawn, this was about ensuring Brittanee’s story is never forgotten. And sending a message to other predators that in this community full justice means the full measure of damages. This win was only possible because of the relentless work of our team at Poulin | Willey | Anastopoulo. We fight for the underdog. We hold the guilty accountable. We don’t back down. We don’t do this just for money. And we refuse to allow people to be taken advantage of. Cameras were rolling in the courtroom. Every case result is based on its own facts, so I’ll post the full video link of trial when it’s available and you can judge for yourself. Stay tuned. #TrialLawyer #JusticeForBrittanee #Verdict #Historic #LawyersWhoFight #CivilJustice #PWTrialLawyers

We're in the news!! The Anastopoulo Law Firm has filed a class-action lawsuit against the cities of Isle of Palms and Folly Beach, South Carolina, challenging the legality of parking tickets issued by the private company PCI Municipal Services, LLC. Our lawsuit contends that delegating police powers to a for-profit entity is unlawful, a stance supported by the South Carolina Attorney General's office. Our firm seeks refunds for over 5,000 tickets issued between March and September 2024, asserting that municipalities cannot outsource such responsibilities merely to generate revenue.
