My business partner Tim Schumacher asked for my opinion on Prerender.io®. io. I told him it would be dead in two months. Four years later, it generates millions in revenue. I was completely wrong. My logic: - SEO rendering was a solved problem. - Google would kill this niche instantly. - Nobody needed this specific solution. My tech knowledge told me this was doomed. The market told a different story. PreRender became one of our most profitable companies. - Huge enterprise customers. - Incredibly loyal user base. - We just hired a top-tier general manager. Here's what I missed: - Friends don't have full context. - External observers never see the complete niche. - Technical correctness doesn't predict market success. I saw the forest. Tim saw the trees. The trees made millions. The smallest niches can become the biggest businesses. What looks narrow from the outside can be deep enough to swim in. Revenue is the only validation that matters. If you're building something and earning your first dollars: Don't listen to friends, advisors, or experts who think they know better. Take their feedback, but take it with a grain of salt. They don't see what you see or talk to your customers daily. Instead: - Bootstrap and keep building. - Consult on the side if you need money. - Spend every spare hour on your thing. The person closest to the problem usually sees the solution clearest. Even when everyone else thinks they're wrong. I was the “smart one” who knew better. Not the founder who kept building this profitable company with loyal customers. The founder was right.

How AI Search Reshapes Ecommerce Product Visibility (Trends and Patterns) 💰 from Prerender.io® AI Indexing Benchmark Report : * Impact of AI search on ecommerce SEO and traffic: AI answers push traditional organic results far down the page. Only around 20% of AI-cited pages overlap with Google’s top 10 organic results. * Changes in search results per product category: ** Fashion and beauty: AI favors visuals, reviews, Q&A, and trend-driven content. ** Electronics: objective specs, schema, and comparison guides dominate citations. ** Home and decor: mix of factual specs and visual inspiration. * How major AI platforms surface ecommerce product results: ** ChatGPT: labels products (“budget-friendly” and “most popular”) based on third-party data. ** Google AI Overviews: rewards schema-rich, structured data (66% of citations are not from the top 10 organic). ** Perplexity: heavy Reddit bias (46.7% citations) and 20+ sources per query.
