Martin Kalungu-Banda shares powerful stories from transforming leadership within the UN system across 26 countries—helping some of the best, highly trained achievers leaders from around the world step into becoming to collaborative ecosystem leaders. Through the SDG Leadership Labs, UN professionals learned to value "not knowing," include stakeholders as co-learners, and listen to their surrounding ecosystem of collaborators as sources of knowledge - including youth. This clip reveals how slowing down, deepening attention, and prioritizing relationship quality opened "a whole new world of possibilities" for humanitarian action. Just finished the seven week u-lab class at MIT Sloan School of Management with 60 amazing students across MIT and Harvard. The closing circle was quite moving. In a time, where more and more noise is being pumped into us (social media) and many of us feel increasing levels of despair, it is possible to completely shift the social field and the quality of attention and listening, that is, the quality of our relationships and our experience that comes with it in a matter of just a few weeks. Just about everyone reported about that in their closing reflections. This is a profoundly hopeful data point: it doesn't take years, it takes weeks to facilitate a profound shift of attention, listening, and conversation in ways that re-activate our generative agency. In parallel to the residential class, we also offer a free online version of this class that is open to everyone (MITx u-lab). In that program, for the first time, are offering two parallel (private) u-lab tracks: one for UN leaders and one for leaders and professors of business schools and higher education (300 leaders and faculty signed up--its a field, that in the current moment has A LOT of energy and potential). Just like yesterday in the streets, where about seven million people across 2700 cities and towns showed up across the country (making it the largest demonstration on American soil in history), we see the same level of good personal intentions also inside institutions. What's often missing is the holding space required for these deeply held personal intentions to emerge in ways that help to co-imagine, co-create and co-embody a future that is worth our highest commitment... #mindfulleadership #ulab #IDG #systemstransformation

Salvador and collaborators in his community began holding in a core question through the "great pause" of 2020: how can we help connect folks more deeply with Nature? In the fall of 2020, Salvador Perez embarked on his first u-lab journey. Through that process, he and his collaborators initiated a local organic waste composting initiative. At first only working with 12 families in his community of Albal, the project has now bloomed to working with 200 families and evolved from composting, to a multi-faceted soil regeneration, community connection, and intergenerational education and awareness raising initiative.
