"The Penguin was a beast to make. We shot in the dead of winter in New York, managed covid and two strikes, and the number one on our call sheet was in prosthetics and a full body suit. As a showrunner and executive producer, part of my job is reiterating my vision again and again (hopefully not in an annoying way), until it becomes a collective vision. Once every department believes in what we are making and feels supported, challenging days are made easier, and true collaboration begins." – Lauren LeFranc, Executive Producer of THE PENGUIN and IMPULSE #producingisajob Want to learn more about what producers do? Based in DC, Deanna Fry (Dean-nuh) has produced broadcast news for nearly two decades, winning Peabody and National Emmy awards. She currently serves as Senior Producer for CBS News’ Race & Culture Unit and as Showrunner for America in Black on BET which she co-created. Recent credits include CBS's FACE THE NATION (supervising producer) and IS AMERICA IN A NEW GILDED AGE? for CBS Reports (producer). On producing network news: "The most important thing is earned trust. Our audience gives us their time and attention, and we have a responsibility to meet that with integrity, accuracy, and care. That also means producing stories that resonate with people across the country, from Birmingham to Beverly Hills. If it doesn’t reflect real lives and lived experiences, it’s not worth putting on air." #newmembermonday #producers

"We spend many months, sometimes years, digging through endless archival resources to visually support a subject’s story: thousands of hours of footage, photographs, news coverage, historical records, and more. You’re always looking for hidden gems that no one else has ever seen before, archival materials that might help audiences connect, cry, laugh. I always say our research endeavors are like getting a mini Masters Degree in the subject we’re exploring." – Meghan Walsh, Producer of STEVE! From Hollywood Commission: Do you work in independent film or television? Are you invested in creating safe and respectful workspaces? If so, Hollywood Commission wants to hear from you! We worked with producers, unions, actors, and others to develop Respect on Set – a program to help prevent harassment and abuse, especially on independent productions. Where you come in: We’re collecting feedback to understand what’s useful, what’s missing, and what else producers might need (e.g, help with intake, qualified investigators, other support). If you can, please take this 2-minute survey: http://bit.ly/3H56XOV With your help, we can ensure Respect on Set drives lasting change for the entertainment industry. #filmandtelevision #filmindustry #emmyawards2025 #PGA

Corbin Phillips is a producer with Blizzard Entertainment on their Story and Franchise Development team. He previously focused on VFX at Industrial Light and Magic and Digital Domain. Recent associate producer credits include WORLD OF WARCRAFT: THE WAR WITHIN and DIABLO IV. "I enjoy collaborating on the development of interactive narratives. Video games provide multiple means of unfolding stories to the player, be it through cutscenes, gameplay, or level design. Depending on the manner in which the narrative is disseminated to the player, development of individual narrative beats can often feel like drastically different parallel running projects, which leads to work feeling fresh and exciting on a day-to-day basis." #newmembermonday #producers

Originally from Barcelona, Mireia Vilanova now produces live action and animation in LA. She first interacted with the Guild as a PGA Create Fellow. Recent credits include I LIVE HERE NOW (co-producer), BY DESIGN (co-producer) which premiered at Sundance and Nickelodeon's SPONGEBOB REIMAGINED (supervising producer). "The best part about producing animation is building worlds from scratch, whether it’s crafting something wildly imaginative or giving a unique visual identity to a grounded story. Coming from live action, it still feels like magic. I’ve had the privilege of working on everything from small, original arthouse projects to franchises I grew up watching, and the sense of wonder never fades. Animation is still a mystery to many in Hollywood, so being part of this tight-knit community of brilliant, passionate artists often feels like being in on the best-kept secret." #newmembermonday #producers
