  • Lighting up the future of entertainment ✨ Our lighting team spent a few nights on site at the Acrisure Amphitheater, testing and fine-tuning the canopy lighting. From aiming fixtures to adjusting focus, every detail was refined to ensure the lighting enhances what it’s meant to illuminate, creating the perfect showtime atmosphere. These lighting systems were designed to support the performance experience while also giving the architecture itself a dynamic presence. A huge shoutout to our incredible Amphitheater team who have continued to lead design, documentation, and construction administration with precision and creativity. Stay tuned for more progress as the Amphitheater continues to come to life!💡🎶 #ProgressiveCompanies #AcrisureAmphitheater #LightingDesign #GrandRapids

  • World Mental Health Day is a reminder that access to compassionate, immediate mental health care can change lives. 💚   When communities invest in spaces designed for dignity, privacy, and connection, we help people find stability and hope in their most critical moments. The Network180 Behavioral Health Crisis Center in Grand Rapids stands as one example, providing 24-hour crisis stabilization and supporting a healthier, more resilient community.   We asked Progressive Companies' Healthcare Planner, Stacy Mockridge, about her former journey in the healthcare space as a nurse. She said, “My nursing journey taught me that healing isn’t only in medicine, it’s also in the spaces we create. A window, a quiet corner, a room filled with light and dignity all remind patients: you are safe, you are valued, you can heal. On World Mental Health Day, let’s remember: care begins with the spaces that hold us.”   Today, and every day, let’s continue working toward a future where mental health support is accessible for all. • Exciting news! Oxford Trails has officially broken ground. We’re proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Oxford Trails project in Grand Rapids. This is a transformative initiative designed to connect underserved neighborhoods to the Grand River corridor and downtown redevelopment. Oxford Trails is more than a trail network; it is a movement toward connection, inclusion, and opportunity. Progressive Companies proudly served as the lead designer, conducting a grassroots community engagement process that centered on the voices of local residents. Through neighborhood leadership teams, multilingual outreach, and creative platforms, we captured input from over 1,000 community members to shape a vision that truly reflects their needs and aspirations. This milestone marks the beginning of a connected future that strengthens mobility, unity, and the quality of life for the Black Hills and Roosevelt Park neighborhoods and beyond.

Congratulations to AIA Charlotte 2025 Citation Award winner of Adaptive Reuse/Preservation -- Progressive Companies for New Charlotte Office 🏆 Designing an office for our own architecture, engineering, and interior design firm within an adaptive reuse framework was both a purposeful and exciting opportunity. Located one mile north of Uptown Charlotte, the space is in the Gama Goat Building, part of the 76-acre adaptive-reuse campus called Camp North End. As with every client, we began by engaging firm leadership “the clients” in aspirational workshops. We followed with an office-wide workplace survey, identifying six focus areas: Technology, Social Spaces, Me Spaces, We Spaces, Material Libraries, and Graphics/Brand. Rooted in our sustainability ethos, we made an early decision to retain the partial upfit, altering a few wall locations to meet layout needs, significantly reducing construction waste. We studied the suite’s position within the broader campus and aligned our interior layout with external programming. We also played up the juxtaposition of old and new through materiality: the historic shell’s rough, light-toned wood, brick, and concrete offset by the smooth, clean, dark tones of modern program insertions. The result is symbolic, modern design in respectful dialogue with the past. To celebrate our identity and Camp North End’s creative energy, we commissioned a local artist to create murals throughout the space. Geometric branding shapes animate the entry wall and reinforce our visual identity. A Charlotte floor mural inspired by Nolli maps greets visitors at the entry, designed to patina over time and match existing painted linework. Full-wall murals in conference rooms abstract our design disciplines, while phone rooms feature line drawings of local mascots. The result is more than a workplace, it’s a built expression of our culture, values, and design process. As both clients and designers, this project demonstrates how adaptive reuse can support sustainability, creativity, and a deeper sense of place.

  • Progressive Companies proudly sponsored the 19th Annual Veterans Golf Tournament put on by Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation. The event provided a free round of golf, meals, and prizes to local Veterans. Jeff Roman, PE attended the event to meet and support the local Veterans, and give away a few donated prizes. "We love giving back to the community, but this event was special for me. Earlier this year, my Grandfather, who served in the Marines in WWII, turned 100 years old. He was an avid golfer into his 90s, and I have lots of great memories out on the course with him. Supporting our Vets and helping to provide them a great day is the least we can do to thank them for their service to our country."

  • This weekend, we celebrated the grand opening of the Wyoming Pedestrian Bridge + Trails. This project is an exciting step toward the City of Wyoming, MI’s vision of creating a vibrant city center and strengthening community connections. As lead designer and construction administrator, Progressive Companies is proud to have partnered with the City and Contech Engineered Solutions to bring this vision to life. The 12-foot-wide, ADA-accessible bridge now links neighborhoods, businesses, schools, parks, and trails, strengthening community connections across 28th Street. We’re honored to see this project already buzzing with people and bikes, and can’t wait to see how it continues to shape the future of Wyoming.
