Investing in Potential

About us

We inspire and empower young, underrepresented marginalized students in Title I schools around Portland, Oregon to become science and technology leaders. We aspire to engage them in opportunities that teach engineering, science and technology skills through interactive LEGO building experiences. Through these experiences, students will innovate and foster well rounded life skills such as self confidence, communication, and leadership. We believe that knowledge is best received when the right resources are available to the hands of the ones who need it most. We see that K-8 is a crucial time in forming a child’s passion, creativity and overall development. In our pursuit of supporting children, we want to give them every opportunity and ensure they are equipped for a brighter future. Sometimes it only takes one person to believe in you to change the fate of your journey. We want to share these experiences and struggles experiences by students at Title I schools with other marginalized parts of the world. Not only that, but we strive to create a solid foundation where they can recognize themselves in each other and build friendships through our international efforts.

  • At Project LEDO, we believe small pieces can build big futures. Last month, we had the incredible privilege of teaming up with Lam Research for a LEGO sorting event — and the impact went far beyond the bricks. Together, we sorted thousands of LEGO pieces that will power our youth robotics and STEAM education programs. These programs reach students who often don’t have access to hands-on tech learning. A huge thank you to the Lam Research volunteers who brought their energy, attention to detail, and deep care for community. Specially to Anna Beebe. Your commitment to equity and education is exactly what fuels our work. These LEGO bricks will be used in upcoming Project LEDO programs — making innovation more accessible, one colorful piece at a time. Interested in volunteering, donating materials, or getting your company involved? We’d love to connect. #ProjectLEDO #LamResearch #STEAMEducation #RoboticsForAll #CSR #EquityInEducation #TechForGood #LEGOForLearning #CommunityImpact

  • Yesterday, a group of CBO’s including Project LEDO had the opportunity to stand up for students by testifying on HB 2007, a bill that—despite good intentions—limits access to well-rounded summer learning opportunities for those who need them most. At Project LEDO, we believe education is more than just academics. Our programs integrate STEAM, social-emotional learning, mentorship, and real-world skill-building—essential for helping students, especially those from underrepresented communities, reach their full potential. While literacy is critical, so are problem-solving, creativity, and access to STEAM fields that prepare students for the future. There has already been one amendment to the bill, and while it made some improvements, there’s still work to do. We remain hopeful that a second amendment will create a more inclusive and equitable summer learning model—one that truly supports all students. A huge kudos to our Founder Fidel Ferrer for showing up and testify. We are grateful for his is advocating for policies that expand opportunities, not restrict them. The biggest gratitude an appreciation for OPEJ. They are the heart of the amazing community and advocacy group! Legislation should open doors, not close them. We’re proud to be part of this conversation and to continue fighting for policies that support, uplift, and empower our students. #EducationForAll #STEAMEducation #EquityInEducation #ProjectLEDO #Advocacy #Leadership

  • Gratitude for an Incredible Collaboration! A huge thank you to OMSI for an inspiring partnership in celebrating Black Women in Science! Throughout February, we worked together to bring hands-on STEM experiences to the community, highlighting the groundbreaking contributions of Patricia Bath, Francisca Nneka Okeke, Jedidah Isler, and Marian Croak. At Project LEDO, we believe representation in STEM matters. Through this collaboration, we created a space where young minds could see themselves in science, engage with innovation, and learn from the brilliance of these pioneers. For those who couldn’t join us in person, the learning continues! Explore the interactive digital module and dive into the stories of these trailblazing scientists: https://hubs.li/Q038Rf7G0. We’re proud to work alongside OMSI in shaping a future where all young scientists feel seen, empowered, and ready to change the world. #BlackWomenInSTEM #ProjectLEDOxOMSI #STEMEducation #RepresentationMatters #ThankYou

Throughout the month of February, Project LEDO has been facilitating hands-on experiments in our physics lab to help tell the stories of four incredible Black women in science. Patricia Bath, Francisca Nneka Okeke, Jedidah Isler, and Marian Croak all made great contributions to their fields, ultimately breaking barriers and paving the way for more scientists who look like them. For those who didn't have the chance to learn about their innovations in person, our educators have compiled an interactive digital learning module following these four women through their remarkable STEM careers.
