Important Update for Colorado Healthcare Providers: Starting January 1, 2026, Colorado’s Rule 16-8-1 goes into effect, bringing mandatory eBilling to workers’ compensation. What’s changing? - Providers must submit bills electronically using the X12 837 format. - Payers must be able to receive these electronic bills and respond with: - An X12 277CA Acknowledgment, and - An X12 835 Remittance Advice (EOB). This is a major step toward standardization and efficiency in the workers' compensation system. Yesterday, my good friend Dhara Satija took the reins as President of the HFMA Massachusetts-Rhode Island Chapter . Dhara’s theme for the year is “Lead by Example” and I cannot think of a better person to carry out that mission. Yesterday also marked the day that my term as President was officially over. Typically, I like to look forward to all of the great things that are to come. But today, I am looking back with much appreciation: To my wife Dawn McDonough, and my sons Tommy, Ryan, and Connor, who supported my often crazy schedule over the past year. To my co-workers at PROMEDICAL , especially our CEO Doug Lucente and COO Helen Chiasson, for continuing to support my involvement in HFMA. To all of our board members and committee chairs, who created programs and events that focused on fostering a welcoming experience for all who participated. And to our membership, for your presence and willingness to be active participants in a phenomenal association. We are blessed to have an amazing chapter. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
