Join us for the Harold Vatter Memorial Lecture on May 22, delivered by this year's esteemed guest and author, Jeffry Frieden, Professor of International and Public Affairs and Political Science at Columbia University, and Professor of Government emeritus at Harvard University. Mr. Frieden specializes in the politics of international economic relations. His topic is "Understanding the Backlash Against Globalization" exploring the growing hostility toward globalism, and toward the domestic and international political institutions that have supported it since World War II. This lecture is free and open to the public. Portland State University is pleased to announce the hiring of Modesta Minthorn, PSU’s first Executive Director of Tribal Relations. I am so pleased to welcome Tyler Frisbee to PSU! Tyler will serve as the Director of the PSU Institute of Portland Metropolitan Studies within the Portland State University, College of Urban and Public Affairs. Those of you know know Tyler know that she is a collaborative leader who has expertise in land use, transportation, racial equity, and climate change. She will be working with Earl Blumenauer who will serve as an IMS Fellow. Together they will bring PSU, elected officials, and community leaders together to chart the future of the Portland region. Welcome Tyler! Many thanks to the outgoing IMS co-directors of PSU, Marisa Zapata and Jenny Liu for their work connecting CUPA students with community and convening discussions about land use and Portland's government transition, and resilient food systems.
