About us
Rainier Climate is a new philanthropic initiative dedicated to combating the global climate crisis. Founded in 2024 by Steve, Connie and Sam Ballmer, Rainier Climate supports strategies that operate at the speed and scale needed to dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions – with the aim of net zero emissions globally by 2050 and even earlier in wealthy nations. Rainier Climate anticipates supporting work in many parts of the world and on a range of strategies such as stopping deforestation, clean energy, clean transportation, industrial decarbonization, energy efficiency, and eliminating super pollutants. We also anticipate supporting work in climate cross-cutting areas such as strategic communications, climate finance, and public policy advocacy. Rainier Climate grant proposals are by invitation only. The organization does not accept unsolicited grant proposals.
