Our Regions Hospital food and nutrition team is leading by example — and the Minnesota Hospital Association took notice, honoring them with a sustainability award for their outstanding efforts. For years, the team has been redefining hospital dining through innovative, sustainable practices which allow them to nourish lives both inside and outside the hospital. Their impact includes: ●Partnering with local and veteran-owned vendors ●Donating surplus food to people in need ●Tracking food waste and turning it into hog feed ●Inspiring healthy habits in schools through the PowerUp program We’re fortunate to have a team of colleagues who are dedicated to improving health and well-being, both in the hospital and the community. From serving up nutritious meals to teaching kids about healthy foods, they’re making a difference every day.

About us
Established in 1872, Regions Hospital is a private, nonprofit teaching hospital providing healthcare services in St. Paul and its surrounding communities, as well as for patients throughout Minnesota, western Wisconsin and other Midwestern states. Regions Hospital provides outstanding care in neuroscience, heart surgery, cardiology, oncology, emergency care, burn care, orthopedic care, mental illness and more. Regions Hospital is one of only three hospitals in Minnesota that is verified as a Level I Trauma Center for both adults and for children with the expertise and technology to treat the most serious injuries 24/7. Through our partnership with Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare, we provide the best care possible for critically injured children. Why work at Regions? In a word: Culture. You’ll find a warm, diverse group of people who are committed to helping our patients – and each other. We stick to a Head + Heart, Together, philosophy – meaning we combine medical knowledge with compassionate care to get the best outcomes. You’ll also find a place to learn and grow. As a teaching hospital, we’re always looking to improve our practices. We foster an inclusive environment that encourages new ways of thinking, celebrates differences and recognizes hard work. We’re committed to living our values. This means you can expect us to be your partner and treat you with dignity and respect. You can expect us to listen carefully and give you good, timely information. And we’ll do our best to earn your trust by being open and honest and keeping our word. If we ever fail to live up to our values, tell us so we can work to make it better. We are also a designated Yellow Ribbon employer, which means that we have met certain criteria that demonstrates our commitment to veterans and their families. This includes enhanced benefits for employees who serve or have served, and other types of special recognition.

After an absence of 30 years, Regions Hospital is again offering paramedic education. This fall, 15 St. Paul firefighters completed Regions’ new paramedic training course, after they put in 1,500 hours of training over the past 11 months. The new paramedics made the most of Regions’ clinical sites, preceptors and staff expertise. “Our partnership with the city of St. Paul has a direct impact on patient outcomes,” said Matt Milder, Regions Hospital EMS director. “We really admire this group of firefighters for their commitment to advance their education to the paramedic level.”

Go green! We’re winning awards for making health care sustainable at Regions Hospital. We recently earned our ninth Top 25 Environmental Excellence award from Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental stewardship in health care. This award is Practice Greenhealth’s highest honor, accounting for a range of sustainability programs, including waste, chemicals, energy, water and climate. Regions also took home Circle of Excellence awards in Energy, Food and Greening the Operating Room, which recognize work we’ve done on our campus to create a cleaner, healthier environment. “As one of the largest health care organizations in the region, we recognize that environmental stewardship is essential to our mission of improving health,” said Andrea Walsh, president and CEO of HealthPartners. “This recognition reflects our deep commitment to sustainability and the meaningful progress our teams are making to protect the health of future generations.” To learn more about the honor, visit: http://bit.ly/3IkfL3M

Smiles, laughter and an overwhelming amount of community spirit – that’s how folks celebrated at the 5th annual Juneteenth Observance in St. Paul’s Rondo Neighborhood. We're proud to support the community event which paid tribute to the history of the neighborhood along with the resilience and contribution of African Americans. The event featured food, music, storytelling and community health resources. The celebration was a wonderful way to show our commitment to community health and to engage with those we serve in our hospitals and clinics every day. Colleagues from Regions and the HealthPartners Midway Clinic provided free blood pressure checks, and HealthPartners colleagues from our health plan and IT handed out hula hoops to families along with other giveaways. It was a powerful reminder that when we come together—in health, in history, and in hope—we build a stronger, more connected community for all.
