  • ‼️ There is only one partially functioning hospital left in North #Gaza: Al Awda – Tal Al Zaatar, which is supported by Relief International thanks to EU in Emergencies. Nearly 12 weeks into a total siege by the government of Israel, the hospital is under continuous bombardment and running out of all of its supplies. Yesterday the facility’s ambulance was directly hit by four bullets fired by an Israeli quadcopter. Today its water tanks and another patient ward were struck.    People are losing limbs and dying under forced starvation and displacement, yet Gaza’s healthcare system is hanging on by a thread unable to meet the colossal need.   “We are doing our best, but we cannot catch our breath,” says Dr Salha, the hospital’s Director.    “We are running out of everything: medicines, fuel for the medical machines, beds, energy… The patients, the staff, everyone is at the end of their rope.    “We are receiving dozens of injured every day, and too many lifeless bodies. This must stop,” he pleads.   Dr Salha explained that most people in need of care in North Gaza are not able to reach the hospital because it is too dangerous and the extreme levels of hunger are leaving people too weak to walk. 👉🏾 Read our full statement: https://lnkd.in/eCdc_spX Al Awda Health and Community Association

  •  A clear message from this year’s European Humanitarian Forum #EHF2025.   Violations of International Humanitarian Law must not be allowed to persist.   We once vowed “never again,” yet today, we are witnessing history repeat itself as impunity prevails in conflict zones across the globe.   Thank you Comfort Ero, Philippe Lazzarini, Hadja Lahbib and all other speakers for your powerful contributions.   We call on all governments with influence to take action.   To uphold International Humanitarian Law. To defend human dignity. To protect human life. Thank you #EHF2025 for the past two days, for the drive of all participants to help make the world a better place. The Relief International France team remains steadfastly committed to our mission - partnering with communities impacted by conflict and disaster to save lives and promote long-term health.

  • 🚨 An important statement from Dr Mohammed Salha, Director of Al Awda’s hospital in North #Gaza ⬇️ During a press conference yesterday, Dr Salha explained the horror his team are experiencing. 🙏 Relief International has been partnering tirelessly with Al Awda Health and Community Association and we remain ready to scale up as soon as we are able. We must raise our voices and stand together to protect lives and restore dignity.

  • Conditions in #Gaza are now more dire than ever. 💔 The relentless violence of this siege—now in its tenth week—continues to claim dozens of innocent lives every day. Due to the complete blockade, life-saving medical supplies are running out rapidly and the entire population is facing starvation. ❌ The proposal by Israeli authorities to route humanitarian aid through military-controlled hubs would violate the core humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, and independence. These are values we will not compromise, and we fully reject participation in any aid distribution that would breach humanitarian principles. 🙏 We ask for any government with influence to protect our ability, backed by international humanitarian law, to do our jobs in an unimpeded, safe and principled manner. Our partner Al Awda Health and Community Association remains on the ground operating life-saving hospitals in Jabalia and Nusierat. 📈 Whilst it is extremely challenging right now, with support from EU in Emergencies and READ Foundation UK we are ready to scale up critical services as soon as we are able. We stand for human dignity. We stand for the sanctity of life. We are humanitarians.

  • Today is International Day of the Midwife 💫 Relief International #midwives are beacons of hope. Delivering newborn babies safely and providing critical support for mothers amidst war, crisis and disaster. Each and every day in 14 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, our midwives go above and beyond to serve the women and children in their communities.  With unwavering determination, they are:  🧑🏿⚕️ Navigating warzones, crises and disasters to support mothers and deliver their newborns safely  🧑🏽⚕️Detecting complications early and referring patients quickly to reduce mortality  🧑🏿⚕️ Walking to remote locations to reach women who are in labor and in need of vital support 🧑🏿⚕️ Improving maternal and newborn survival by providing life-saving care before and after birth  🧑🏽⚕️ Extending support beyond childbirth, helping mothers who are survivors of gender-based violence with critical services.                                                                                             And so much more.  We know that for many Relief International midwives, their work isn’t just a job, it’s a humanitarian mission. 🤍 Today and every day, we thank you for all that you do.

  • 🚨Myanmar Earthquake Response Almost a month after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake, millions in #Myanmar still need help urgently.  Homes, hospitals and critical infrastructure have been destroyed. Communities are suffering extreme heat without electricity to power fans. Local Relief International teams are working around the clock, providing almost 40,000 people with emergency support across South Shan, one of the regions worst affected. This includes:  🩺 Mobile medical care   ❤️ Psychosocial support   👩🏽⚕️ Screening for malnutrition  🚰 Clean water and sanitation services     Over coming weeks, we are expanding our outreach to cover essential service gaps across Mandalay, Sagaing and Bago.  This crisis will have a long-term impact, and we’re dedicated to supporting communities in Myanmar every step of the way.

💔 As we continue to grieve the lives lost during the latest Zamzam Camp attack, the situation in the region is deteriorating rapidly. The terrifying violence is causing mass displacement from Zamzam, with more than 60,000 households desperately searching for safety. 🚨 As our Regional Director Mark Atterton explains, communities were already suffering amidst the ongoing siege - cut off from food, water and medical supplies. Now they are forced to flee once again, traumatized and with nothing. We remain committed to the Sudanese people. Support is needed now more than ever. 🙏 Stand with #Sudan. Protect humanitarian workers. Demand peace.

  • Airstrikes are hitting hospitals in #Gaza.    Life-saving services have been forced to suspend. Again.    No aid has entered for nearly seven weeks.     Read that again.   🏥 Relief International supports two of the few remaining, semi-functional hospitals which includes providing essential supplies, salaries, training and repairs.   ⛔ We have several shipments of medical and pharmaceutical aid waiting outside the territory, not being allowed to enter.   🕊️ We could be saving so many more lives, thanks to support from EU in Emergencies and our partner on the ground Al Awda Health and Community Association.   ❌ Instead, against international humanitarian law, we are witnessing the dismantling of the last healthcare points and services due to repeated attacks and supplies running out, one by one.    We once again urge states with influence to:  👉🏽 Demand, without delay, an end to the attacks against healthcare in Gaza 👉🏽 Advocate for a permanent ceasefire  👉🏽 Enable the entry of aid items into the Gaza Strip.   Aid is protected under international law. Aid should never be weaponized.
