We're in a new home, and it's time for us to make it our own! Our expanded workshop will become a vibrant community repair hub that supports our mission to keep furniture in circulation for the benefit of all members of our community. Our new space is a blank canvas waiting to be transformed into a hub for creativity, skill-building, and circular design. Your contribution will help us: - Install better lighting, electricity, and air systems to keep our volunteers safe and comfortable. - Build sound-dampening and dust-limiting partition walls to create dedicated learning zones for upholstery, wood repair, and community gatherings. - Upgrade equipment and tools for efficiency and accessibility. - Create a welcoming volunteer lounge where connections and ideas can flourish. To keep our mission and our space thriving, we need your help! We're calling for donations to convert our "Blank Space" to "The Repair Place." Please visit our website to learn more and consider donating to our latest initiative: https://lnkd.in/gExeeKs5 For long-time volunteers: Don't worry, we haven't moved far! You can still find us in the same building, just a few doors south! #FurnitureRepairBank #CommunityImpact #CircularEconomy #VolunteerPowered #Nonprofit #SocialGood #TheRepairPlace

Keeping furniture in circulation for the well-being of all members of our community.
About us
Furniture Repair Bank is growing a community of empowered individuals to reduce household waste through repair and redesign to benefit refugees and low-income families and individuals. We rescue broken and worn furniture items from the public and our partners, restore and redesign them with the help of volunteers, and then provide them to recent immigrants and other people in need. At Furniture Repair Bank, we are reducing the climate impact of furniture waste by promoting the circular economy of repair and redesign. We empower individuals and build a resilient community by teaching repair and refinishing skills to volunteers, talents that are less frequently passed down through the generations in our increasingly disposable economy. Our volunteers and donors learn that worn or broken furniture does not have to be destined for a landfill. Once restored to like-new condition, the items are gifted to community members in need, such as refugees, domestic violence survivors, and people emerging from homeless situations. Our efforts are only made possible by our volunteers. Through furniture repair or group volunteering, help with deliveries or warehouse coordination, you can make a tangible difference for the environment and in other people’s lives. We're here to help companies and groups meet their volunteer goals and promote an engaged workforce. We specialize in group volunteer events that require no skill or preparation. Reach out to build your hands-on, team-building experience with impacts that will last beyond your time with us.

More good news! We’re beyond excited to share that Furniture Repair Bank has been awarded a Re+ Circular Economy Grant from the King County Solid Waste Division! This grant helps us: 🛠️ Host furniture collection events with local cities outside of Seattle 🤝 Create hands-on volunteer opportunities to learn repair skills 🏠 Provide refurbished furniture to neighbors starting fresh Even better, we can now pick up furniture donations from King County residents (for a small fee). Because let’s be real: not everyone has a truck for that big sofa, but everyone deserves to keep good furniture out of the landfill! Keep an eye out for us at community events like Bothell Sustainamania later this month. We can’t wait to share these programs with more King County cities! The Re+ Circular Economy Grants are intended to help increase the prevention, reuse and recycling of material, to help meet King County’s zero waste of resources goal, reduce the impact our consumption has on our environment, and create a more circular economy. The Repair Bank team is proud to promote the circular economy of furniture restoration and thankful for the partnership and support of King County Solid Waste! #circulareconomy #furniturerestoration #kingcountywa #nonprofitorganization @kingcountydnrp

We had a great time hosting two teams of Brooks employees earlier this month as part of their first-ever Brooks Community Days. We look forward to participating in this generous event again next year! #groupvolunteering
Last week, we kicked off Brooks Community Days — a new program for Brooks Running employees to come together as teammates while giving back to the communities where we work, live, and run. Throughout the week, we traded our laptops for work gloves and volunteered with organizations like Seattle Parks and Recreation, Little Free Library, and Mary's Place among a few others. I had the opportunity to refurbish furniture for families in need through Seattle’s Furniture Repair Bank. It was inspiring to see our values in actions and our culture shine outside the office. And this is just the beginning — teammates in EMEA, APLA, and around the world are carrying the momentum forward in their own local communities. We’re thrilled to expand Brooks Community Days in the days — and years — to come! #ValuesinAction #CommunityImpact #BrooksLife

We are so honored that Furniture Repair Bank was included in the very first Brooks Running Community Days! As one of six local nonprofits to benefit from this event, the Repair Bank hosted 43 Brooks employees over two days who brought so much enthusiasm, skill, and care to repairing and refurbishing furniture for families in need. It’s not every day you see a company bring its values to life in such a hands-on way. The Brooks team didn’t just show up; they rolled up their sleeves, worked side by side with us, and made a real difference for the people we serve. Their commitment to community is as strong as their commitment to running, and we’re grateful to have witnessed it firsthand. Thank you, Brooks Running, for making us part of this inspiring week of service, and for showing what’s possible when companies truly invest in their communities!
Thrilled to have launched Brooks Running’s first-ever Brooks Community Days — bringing employees together worldwide to give back to the communities where we live, work, and run. Over the past week, 400+ Seattle-based employees volunteered 750+ hours with six incredible local organizations. Watching teammates from across departments roll up their sleeves to support nonprofits making a difference in our backyard has been a joy to witness. In Seattle alone, we: -Packaged & labeled 400+ pounds of dry goods for Ballard Food Bank -Assembled 300+ care kits for Mary's Place (food/snacks, cold & flu supplies, and baby starter kits) -Supported Resilient Hearts Animal Sanctuary with puppy intake, bathing, socializing and lots of dog walks -Organized 3 park clean-ups with Seattle Parks and Recreation -Repaired & refurbished furniture with Furniture Repair Bank for families in need -Built, painted, and decorated 10 libraries through Little Free Library that will soon be installed across the city And we’re just getting started — in the weeks ahead, teams in EMEA, APLA, and beyond will carry the momentum forward. With our first batch of Brooks Community Days under our belt, I'm stoked to continue to anniversary this program and provide opportunities and resources for employees to give back. This work doesn't happen overnight and it certainly doesn't happen alone. An EXTRA big kudos plus thanks to Alice Liang-Saites, Kim Ottele, Michael Dragoni, Hon Walker & Jennifer Goupil!

At Furniture Repair Bank, we love hosting corporate teams because it’s where community impact meets meaningful connection. Volunteering in our workshop not only helps us restore essential furniture for neighbors in need, but it also gives teams a chance to build camaraderie through hands-on problem-solving, creativity, and learning new skills. It’s rewarding, a little messy, and always memorable. Thanks for joining us Starbucks! Reach out today to schedule your group event at the Repair Bank! 🛋️ Our first furniture collection event in Issaquah was a great success last month! This event was prompted by a request from a resourceful Girl Scout named Kaela who was interested in partnering with us as a service project. We connected with the City of Issaquah, and a plan was set in motion! Kaela, City of Issaquah, and the Issaquah High School Eco Club helped spread the word about the event throughout the community. 34 items were collected at the event, providing an estimated savings of: ♻ 1,929 lbs diverted from the landfill 🏭 1,519kg CO2 in emissions reductions 🛋 $8,940 of furniture value kept in circulation Thank you to the Issaquah residents who helped keep their furniture out of the landfill, our mighty volunteers who supported the event, and of course Kaela and Samantha Tarvin, MPA at the City of Issaquah who helped bring it all together! #furniturewaste #wastereduction #circulareconomy
