Happy National Fossil Day! 🦖 Today, we celebrate the incredible diversity of paleontological resources, especially those preserved in our National Parks. California’s parks showcase nearly the entire fossil record, from Cambrian trilobites in Death Valley to Pleistocene pygmy mammoths on the Channel Islands. 📸 Featured here is a bivalve mollusk and a stingray tooth discovered in the Pico Formation of Los Angeles County by Rincon paleontologist Anthony Esposito. You can join in the celebration by visiting a local natural history museum, attending a fossil talk, participating in a fossil hunt, or supporting the conservation of our paleontological heritage. #NationalFossilDay #Paleontology #FossilHeritage

For more than a decade, Rincon has supported the Project Construction Management Team for the California High-Speed Rail, Construction Package 1. Recently, our team has partnered with Environmental Science Associates, Harris & Associates, Applied EarthWorks, Inc., and Soar Environmental Consulting, Inc. to excavate the Belmont Archaeology site in Fresno. This site, dating back to the 1890s-1920s, provides a fascinating glimpse into California’s multicultural past, with artifacts from Chinese, Japanese, and European communities. Each discovery is helping us piece together a clearer picture of daily life during this period. Leading this work for Rincon is Amanda R. Harvey, Ph.D., RPA, one of our Senior Archaeologists. Amanda’s career has taken her around the world, from excavating caves in Belize to historic sites in Mississippi and Nevada, to surveys across the Sierra Nevada. For the past decade, she has called California home, where she helps manage archaeological work on the High-Speed Rail project between Madera and Fresno. Amanda is passionate about sharing archaeology with the public and inspiring curiosity about the past. 💬 Have a question for her? Drop it in the comments below! #ArchaeologyMonth #CulturalResources #CaliforniaHistory #HighSpeedRail

🌊 Honoring Water Professionals Appreciation Week with a Milestone from Kern County 🌊 Water Professionals Week is a chance to recognize the scientists, planners, engineers, and agency leaders who manage one of California’s most vital resources. Their work shapes resilient communities, supports thriving economies, and safeguards ecosystems across the state. To honor these professionals, Rincon is spotlighting a milestone that demonstrates the impact of our partnership with one of California’s leading agencies in water. 👏 The 20 Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) of the Kern County Subbasin recently secured approval from the State Water Resources Control Board to return to Department of Water Resources oversight under the 2014 Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). This achievement reflects years of collaboration, technical innovation, and community engagement. It’s proof of what happens when water professionals lead with vision and commitment, turning challenges into opportunities for long-term sustainability. Rincon is proud to support the Kern Subbasin GSAs and to celebrate the contributions of water professionals statewide who are building a more resilient water future. 📖 Learn more about Rincon’s work in water by visiting https://lnkd.in/gPuHtrcA #WaterProfessionalsWeek #Groundwater #CaliforniaWater #Resilience #SGMA #KernSubbasin

October is Archaeology Month, a time to reflect on the ways archaeology connects us to the past while guiding the future. At Rincon, our Cultural Resources team provides high-quality services for private and public sector clients, from archaeological surveys and excavations to construction monitoring, historic preservation, compliance support, and public engagement. Our team includes archaeologists who meet or exceed the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards, supported by paleontologists, technicians, GIS staff, and more. Together, we help clients across California and the West balance growth and development with respect for cultural resources. This month, we celebrate our archaeologists and their vital role in preserving the diverse stories of our past. #ArchaeologyMonth2025 #CulturalResources #CaliforniaArchaeology

Rincon's Hannah Mize captured the spirit of #ClimateWeekNYC beautifully, reminding us that change is built on data, dialogue, community, and action. We’re grateful to have such passionate and thoughtful voices on our team and are excited to continue this work together!
Spending the week with such incredibly brilliant, talented, innovative, and hopeful people during Climate Week NYC 🗽📝🌎 has been an experience that I won’t soon forget! The events I have attended and people I’ve met have been fascinating and inspiring. Some of the key thoughts I’ve taken away from the last few days: 📊 Expanded access to open source, high-quality data will change the way we understand our world and all of the pieces that fit into it. We have an opportunity, an obligation even, to manage the data that has been collected effectively and retain honest lines of replicable information to facilitate data driven decision making and progress tracking/monitoring. 🙉 Dialogue cannot be performative because there is a true human cost to not speaking to each other and more importantly, not listening. 🧠 Community, culture, and participation are key to making real change. We are stewards — of each other, the spaces we inhabit, the ideas we share. ✅ We can’t let perfection be the enemy of the good. We all must roll up our sleeves and get to work! I will also take away extra gratitude for the work that we do — the idea that we have the opportunity to implement meaningful solutions (and of course, test, monitor, report, refine…). We can fundamentally transform communities into hubs where people know their neighbors, have access to clean and reliable resources, and rewild ecosystems, while simultaneously establishing the foundations that will eventually build generational trust and embedded equity that we so desperately need for long-term success. We are fortunate that we have time (albeit, not much) to still do the right things, and even more fortunate that we can do it together. More to come as I percolate on such an energizing experience. For now, I know that we have a fair amount of hard work to do, and a lot of smart, passionate people to do it. Onward, friends!! Looking forward to staying connected with you if we met in person, if we didn’t meet yet, but you want to chat, let’s connect! Major thanks and recognition to Rincon Consultants, supporting the constant opportunity to grow, learn, and do even more meaningful work. And thanks to Ryan Gardner for showing me around the City 🏙️ and making sure I had all the great coffee and food along the way!! #climateweek #climateweekNYC #climateaction #resilience #stewardship #sustainability
