🌟 A little over a week ago, I had the opportunity to present my Rising Leaders project with Rocketship Public Schools Tennesse, focused on coaching first-year teachers—an area I'm truly passionate about. In my presentation, I emphasized how essential it is to nurture and support our teachers, especially during their critical first year. Did you know that in 2023, 30% of first-year teachers left the classroom within the same year? This statistic is a stark reminder of the ongoing nationwide teacher shortage. I believe that our first-year teachers need not only initial support but continued encouragement throughout the school year to build their confidence and ensure their success. At Rocketship Public Schools, we believe parent power is not just a value—it’s a strategy. Our families are not bystanders in the fight for educational equity; they are leaders. They know what their children need. They understand what’s working and what’s not. And when they speak, decision-makers listen. Guiding our families through these experiences reminds me why I do this work. Because when parents are equipped, united, and heard, they change the conversation. And in time, they change policy.

Team members from our South Bay branches came together to volunteer at Rocketship Public Schools in San Jose. This program, in collaboration with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, is dedicated to supporting students and families in need by providing essential food resources every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.   Thanks to these efforts, volunteers successfully distributed food to 168 families in need. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team members. Together, we continue to make a difference in our community. 💪✨

Today, I had the opportunity to present “Conditions for Success in an Inclusive Literacy Classroom” at the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE)’s virtual Special Education Institute. On Saturday, May 3rd, we celebrated the culmination of two powerful leadership programs, the Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship (ALLF) and the Latinx Teacher Fellowship (LTF), each an incredible groups of educational leaders. Over the past 9 months, these fellows went beyond professional development; they built community, found their voice, deepened their identity as leaders, and grew into a familia. Latinos for Education fellows aren't just prepared to lead; they're prepared to truly transform! Each one will continue to lead with identity, bridge across cultures, rise as a collective, agitate when necessary, and lead con ganas! 💗 ⭐ Un millón de gracias to our fellows, now alumni, for your trust, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to this work.
