Last evening, we proudly joined Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBI) in celebrating the hospital’s Partners in Progress: Celebrating Newark awards dinner. Our President and CEO Mark E. Manigan attended alongside several members of the RWJBarnabas Health executive leadership team, NBI President and CEO Darrell K. Terry, Sr., the hospital's Board of Trustees and many generous supporters. This year was dedicated to the incredible work of the Newark Beth Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, part of our health system's Children’s Health Network, which is advancing our mission to provide compassionate, high-quality care and build a healthier future for our community. The evening’s proceeds will support pediatric programs at Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. Children’s Hospital of New Jersey is a hub for pediatric critical care across the state of New Jersey and the evening’s honorees included: Ed and Sue Goldstein, founders of The Valerie Fund. Newark Beth Israel is home to the largest Valerie Fund in New Jersey, offering individualized emotional, social and developmental support to children battling cancer and blood disorders. The Spirit of Children Foundation, philanthropic arm of the Spirit Halloween stores (which has donated approximately $1.2M to support the hospital's Child Life Department), and Dr. Denise Rodgers, Vice Chancellor of Interprofessional Programs and Director of the Urban Health and Wellness Institute at Rutgers Health, received the Marc E. Berson Community Award for her dedication to serving children and families in Newark. Beloved physician Dr. Joshua Rosenblatt, past Chief of Academic Affairs and past Chair of Pediatrics at Newark Beth Israel, was honored to receive the inaugural Dr. Victor Parsonnet Award for Clinical Excellence.
