  • Technology can be helpful. I use it to stay organized and efficient and sometimes as a thought partner when I have new ideas. But it cannot replace what coaching offers. An app can’t sit in silence with a client’s grief. A chatbot can’t mirror someone’s power back to them. Only presence can do that. Let the tools support you, but never forget — you are the heart of this work. Michael Bungay Stanier (one of my favorite authors and speakers) invites us to remember that easy change is, well, easy. People can use AI, for easy change. HARD change is HARD, this is the heart of coaching. Being WITH people during the hard times as they navigate change.

  • Coaching doesn’t require having all the answers. It doesn’t mean rushing in to fix or direct. It’s about being present. It’s about listening with curiosity and care. It’s about honoring the client’s pace, even when it unfolds slowly. When someone invites you into their financial story, they’re already showing strength. Your role is to walk with them as they uncover what’s possible — not because they’re broken, but because they’re ready to grow.

  • I’m honored to be speaking at the CFP Connections Conference in Chicago this October. On Tuesday, October 7, I’ll be leading a session called Growing Together: Connecting Education and Inclusion in Financial Planning. This conversation is close to my heart. The future of financial planning depends on how well we listen to and reflect the communities we serve. In this session, we’ll explore how mentorship, education, and inclusive practices can strengthen both the profession and the people in it. Whether you're an educator, firm leader, or financial planner, you’ll leave with tools to build learning environments and professional cultures where everyone has a seat at the table. If you're attending the conference, I look forward to connecting in person. Learn more about the conference at the link in the comments.

  • I’ve been thinking a lot about AI. I wanted to share a few of my thoughts as I’ve seen this topic come up quite a bit. It seems that people are either leaning into the benefits or afraid of the implications. Can it replace us? Will it “dumb us down” or cause us to lose our unique voice? A “bot” is not accountable to our clients or our profession. A platform has no ethics requirement or duty to do what is best for our clients. An AI generated response cannot feel WITH the client even though it might have the right words. Trust matters. When clients come to you, they’re not just looking for answers — they’re looking for support they can rely on. In a world of automation, trust is your superpower.

  • I’m excited to be speaking at the SER Summit for Latinos in Financial Services on Wednesday, September 3 in Oak Brook, Illinois. I’ll be leading a session called Open Doors with Confidence: Building Your Value Statement. If you’ve ever stumbled over the words when someone asks, “Tell me about yourself,” this session is for you. Together, we’ll work on how to answer that question with clarity and confidence, whether you're in a networking space, job interview, or client conversation. Your value statement is more than a pitch. It’s a reflection of who you are, what you stand for, and the impact you’re ready to make. If you’re attending the summit, I’d love to see you there. Let’s grow together. The link to register is in the comments. Let me know if I’ll see you there.
