  • In the final episode of this week’s Hospitality Daily podcast series, our Co-Founder & CEO Walter Isenberg shares the story behind the story: how Sage Studio brings hospitality to life. He reflects on the creative force behind some of our most memorable spaces—and how design, storytelling, and purpose come together to shape experiences that resonate. • Dana Crawford saw possibility where others saw parking lots. Her partnership with Walter Isenberg helped shape not only Sage Hospitality Group, but the future of downtown Denver—and the future of hospitality itself. From The Oxford Hotel to Union Station, Dana taught us that history has value, narrative draws people in, and placemaking is more than a buzzword—it’s a belief system. In today's episode of the Hospitality Daily podcast, Walter reflects on their earliest projects together, and the lessons that continue to shape our work today. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/e9T4MRKF

Decades before “placemaking” was a buzzword, Dana Crawford was already doing it. Then came a martini with Walter Isenberg - and a decades-long partnership with Sage Hospitality Group that helped reshape Denver - and redefine what's possible in hospitality. Dana was a visionary. In an era when “urban renewal” meant demolition, she stood in front of bulldozers to save history, and then figured out how to make it profitable. “We didn’t know anything about historic preservation," Walter shares on our podcast today. "But Dana taught us that if your hotel has a great story, guests will be attracted to it.” 🎧 Listen to the Hospitality Daily Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts Walter and Dana went on to save The Oxford Hotel, and later redevelop Denver’s Union Station, naming The Crawford Hotel in her honor. So what can we take from this? 🔹 Story matters. Dana knew it before anyone else. Long before soft brands and boutique lifestyle hotels were a trend, she proved that narrative and authenticity attract guests. 🔹 Vision requires risk. Reclaiming The Oxford Hotel meant pushing it through what she called "Chapter 22" (a second bankruptcy!). Dana saw potential where others saw decay. 🔹 Place matters. Investing in building hospitality places in downtown Denver didn’t just serve travelers. It helped bring a city back to life. Dana Crawford passed away in January at age 93. But her approach to development, rooted in story, risk, and deep belief in place, feels more relevant than ever. • We love seeing our teams bring creativity and heart to everything they do, especially when it supports a great cause. The team at the Renaissance Pittsburgh recently took their Dollars for Dreams fundraiser to new heights with a “Soak the Executive Team” challenge. Associates came together for some friendly fun and soaked their leaders, all to raise funds that help enrich the lives of our associates’ families by creating scholarships for their children to attend Camp Southern Ground. Way to go, Renaissance Pittsburgh!

The energy was palpable as the Ambassadors of the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel donated money to our fundraising platform, Dollars for Dreams, to Soak the Executive Committee! Thank you to our heartfelt leaders (listed in order of appearance) Chris Johnson, Nicholas Saxon, myself, Derek Thomas, Bill Sfamenos, Drew Simanski, and Craig Bollman for graciously accepting their fate, haha! I also have to give a GIANT shout-out to my right hand, and best bucket pourer in the tri-state area, Hayley Gass, who had a vision and really brought it to life with a splashing success. Video credit goes to Logan @ Graham Media LLC, an amazing partner to work with, thank you for perfectly highlighting our event!

  • As Marriott Associate Appreciation Week draws to a close, we’re reflecting with gratitude on the people who make our hotels feel like home. Across our Sage-operated Marriott properties, teams showed their appreciation through creative, heartfelt moments—taco trucks and goodie carts, recess-style games, elegant luncheons, surprise treats, and even manager dance videos that brought smiles to associates’ faces. It was a week filled with joy, connection, and a deep appreciation for the care our associates bring to every shift, every guest, every experience. To all our Marriott associates: thank you.
