91% of defense leaders want faster acquisition. But there is a gap: procurement timelines are compressing while deployment timelines aren't. The result? You're buying faster but fielding slower. Warfighters don't need procured technology. They need operational capability. Read how mission integration closes this gap: https://saic.co/mipov3li

How do we modernize space systems while still advancing the mission—and doing more with the investments already in place? That question anchored a recent AIAA webinar featuring leaders from Space Development Agency, NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, moderated by SAIC Space CTO Matt Hungerford. The discussion explored the pace of innovation, acquisition reform, workforce challenges and the role of commercial capabilities in the future space enterprise. Missed it live? At the Potomac Officers Club R&D Summit, SAIC’s Vincent DiFronzo moderated a panel with defense leaders that reinforced how to cross the “valley of death”: clear ownership, aligned authorities and operator-driven execution at mission speed. Panelists emphasized delivering usable capability through exercises and avoiding prolonged analysis that delays impact. SAIC supports this approach by integrating operators, aligning decision authorities and using digital engineering and rapid prototyping to reduce risk and get mission-ready technology into warfighters’ hands faster. Panelists: US Navy CAPT Jerry Daley, United States Air Force Lt Col. Gregory Haverkorn, RADM (Ret.) Doug Small. #POCDefenseRD2026

SAIC reposted this
The United States Department of War under Secretary Pete Hegseth wants to move technologies into the hands of warfighters faster, but the structural transition from PEOs to PAEs is posing a new set of challenges. Representatives from the Navy's robotics and autonomy arm and the United States Air Force, as well as a retired US Navy leader, hashed this out in the Crossing the Valley of Death and Ready to Fight on the Far Side panel. Expertly moderated by SAIC's Vincent DiFronzo, participants said constantly iterating smartly and trial-by-fire exercises like Battle Labs are key to a swifter innovation-to-implementation pipeline. #POCDefenseRD2026
