Did you know Morgan Wallen‘s bar in Nashville, Tennessee has Samsung Air Conditioners? Did you know Samsung made commercial HVAC equipment? Well, both are true. But I had to go to Nashville to make sure! What a great project, utilizing variable, refrigerant flow for heat recovery in this application is brilliant. Using Samsung really turned this into a premium system. Initially the system was not designed with the 360 panel, but I think after watching this video you’ll agree that in a concert venue, the 360 panel looks great, high-quality, and in a special way, part of the audiovisual system. Yeehaw. On the technical side, there are over 40 different ductless fan coil evaporative units spread out through the five floors of this building. Each one of those is piped to a mode control unit that, in conjunction with the outdoor condensing side of the system, can direct refrigerant at the temperatures required to satisfy the need for heating and cooling at each individual unit. When you think of an application like this where one room could have 500 people in it each one generating a sensible and latent cooling load, while an adjacent room could only have two people needing heating for comfort, this system allows heat to transfer through those refrigerant pipes from one room to the other. Heat doesn’t have to be rejected, or in this case wasted, through the outside condensing section. Essentially providing very efficient energy utilization. If you’re thinking about designing one of these heat recovery systems for your business or for your customer’s business, maybe we should take a site visit so you can see it for yourself.
