When bringing advanced AI models to on-device environments, developers often face complex conversions and reimplementations, a time-consuming process that can slow innovation. To overcome this challenge, #SamsungSemiconductor has been working closely with #Meta to bring #ExecuTorch — an open-source #ondeviceAI framework based on PyTorch — to Exynos mobile processors. This collaboration ensures that advanced models, from vision to large language models, can run efficiently across a wide range of edge devices. Samsung Electronics has achieved UL Solutions’ “Zero Waste to Landfill” Platinum designation across all of its global manufacturing sites, marking an important milestone in our journey toward a circular economy. Zero Waste to Landfill validation is a program run by the global environmental safety certification agency UL Solutions that assigns ratings based on the percentage of waste recycled at each site, serving as a key indicator of a company’s resource-circularity efforts. Platinum represents a 100% landfill diversion rate, while Gold and Silver represent 95% to 99% and 90% to 94% respectively. This follows the Platinum designation that #SamsungSemiconductor obtained last year across its 10 global business sites, and represents the company-wide realization and strengthening of the same goal, further enhancing our sustainable resource-circularity system. Samsung Semiconductor continues to develop technologies to recycle materials used in semiconductor #manufacturing processes. Waste liquids are reused as a cleaning agent in scrubbers that reduce air pollutants and as water treatment agents in wastewater treatment facilities. Beyond reducing waste at its worksites, Samsung Semiconductor has also recycled by-products and discarded materials into new resources, including turning discarded wafer trays from semiconductor manufacturing into components for the Galaxy S25 series. Looking ahead, Samsung Electronics will continue to enhance waste segregation and material-specific management to secure high-quality recycled resources and apply them across various products and processes, further expanding our “circular use of waste resources.” Check out the photos below, which illustrate our waste regeneration processes and the reuse of absorbents in action.

About a month ago, we introduced the foundations of #OnDeviceAI. Building for the edge isn’t just about scaling down — it’s about reimagining how generative AI works within the real-world limits of mobile devices. In our latest article, we dive into how the #Exynos SoC is pushing on-device AI forward by addressing key challenges like limited computation budget, restricted memory bandwidth, and limited power and thermal envelope. To tackle these, we explore: - Low-bit quantization: Reducing model size and computational load without sacrificing accuracy - Weight sparsity: Minimizing memory I/O by skipping redundant computations - Algorithm-level optimizations: Speculative decoding, Sliding Window Attention, and step distillation—all designed to accelerate inference and improve efficiency These innovations make running large models like Llama and Stable Diffusion XL on-device a reality today.
